Had a play with this and I think the time refures to the main object (i.e. the one the UTL is pointing to). Troubleshooting Zope Server Failure

I am running Zope as a CGI process behind Apache on Linux and from time to time my Zope process is going down (Apache remains up). Where do I begin to track the source of the problem down? Since I am not in the driver's seat when it goes down I don't even know what the symptoms are - help! Also a Linux friend (I am a Linux newbie) told me about a program called inittab that can monitor processes and respawn a process if it goes down. Does anyone have an example script of how I might set this up to monitor and respawn my Zope.cgi process? What are the ins and outs of such a solution? Can I set it up to page me (sent via email) if the process is respawned? Any tips greatly appreciated. P. Johnson

libpthread vs. libc_r

Howdy! Is there a way to tell Zope to use libpthread instead of libc_r? (I'm still trying to get Zope up and running on OpenBSD 2.8 without using a workaround.) Ragnar

SiteRoot and Zope 2.3.0

I upgradet to Zope 2.3.0 today and encountered, that no management interface was anymore receivable when there was a SiteRoot in it. I restarted version 2.2.5 after this and manually deleted all SiteRoots in all subfolders (there are some different domains in different subdirectories). After this I copied Data.* to the var directory of 2.3.0 and started 2.3.0. I now was able to add the Siteroots again in the 2.3.0 version. After this everything worked ok like before. Unfortunately the SiteRoot in one subdirectory already makes problems. I cannot access the manage interface. When I login as Superuser, I can see all the subdirectories etc., but when I click on the trouble-subdirectory, I receive an error message that Zope could not find this file. As anonymous user everything works ok. Java applet naming problem

I need to set up a Java applet to work w/Zope. Normally no big deal, but this one (IPIX) happens to include a file named "ipix$.class". I don't have access to the source, so I can't do anything about the unfortunate inclusion of the $ in the file name. What's the best solution to this situation? Write an external method that called the applet and then call the external method? Any thoughts? -- Geoffrey L.
