Redirects within a Python Script-based Access Rule

How does one write a redirect within a Python Script-based Access Rule? For example, foo.com and foo.net both getting redirected to www.foo.com. Because I already have a virtual hosting environment using an Access Rule and a Virtual Hosting Monster, the easy albeit verbose solution was to create /vhosts/foo_net and /vhosts/foo-www and put a DTML Method "index_html" object: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('http://www.foo.com')"> in each of those folders and have the Access Rule direct requests to those objects. hi, How can I create a user defined dtml document? If I understand your example properly, when someone types in www.foo.com, the Access Rule I have in the root directory uses the Python script to send requests to the /vhosts/foo directory. I tried that and got it working as a test one level up in a directory I called /root because I didn't want to risk locking myself out, i.e. /root/vhosts/foo. Now, the second part of the equation is to put the VHM in the directory you want to be the root so all objects in that directory return logical path of / instead of their true physical path. In my example above, putting a VHM in the /root/vhosts/foo directory changes the paths of the objects in /root/vhosts/foo to just /root when using www.foo.com/root as the URL. I got this working as well. The one question I have is regarding the naming convention of the VHM. It doesn't seem to matter what the name/ID of the VHM is as long as "VirtualHostRoot" is used in the requesting URL. Likewise, you can change "VirtualHostRoot" in the requesting URL to something else like "testVHM" and as long as the VHM is called "testVHM", it works. Is there a preferred naming convention? They both need somebody doing the first half of the virtual host mapping -- sending requests for www.foo.com to /vhosts/foo. Apache can do this, but if you want a bare ZServer, you'll need to use an Access Rule. ZMySQLDA and Zope 2.3.0

Hi, I just wanted to mention that the new MySQL modules don't work with Zope 2.3. They seem to work (no broken Product. Open DB Connection) but then all SELECT statements return nonsense. I don't know if the problem is in the MySQLdb or the ZMySQLDA. Is there a list of the relevant changes in the API or data structures of Zope 2.3 besides the CHANGES.txt which lists only feature changes and fixes, AFAIK? --Oliver

Zope 2.3 for Solaris 2.6 Directory Checksum Error installing!

Help, I've killed my client's Zope installation! I used Solaris Netscape 4, to download Zope-2.3.0-solaris-2.6-sparc.tgz It saves on my system as 3029993 bytes. Gzip doesn't given any errors, resulting in this .tar file 12789760 Feb 6 14:58 Zope-2.3.0-solaris-2.6-sparc.tar But tar -xvf give this error: --- code_gen/Makefile, 31 bytes, 1 tape blocks x Zope-2.3.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/zbytecodehacks/code_gen/__init__.py, 49 bytes, 1 tape blocks tar: directory checksum error haan:/tmp> Anyone else seen this? Thanks for all the responses. I think I need to clarify the question. A product I just built "drops" dtml-documents with empty properties at any destination folder, at any part of the tree (as it's supossed a product to work). The product also creates a method within a subfolder, intended to use the properties from the correspondant dtml-document. The product at first inquiries for an id, and then it creates both the object and the method, both sharing the same requested id. Like this: any_folder.objectid (objectid been a document) any_folder.subfolder.objectid (objectid been a method ) In addition to standard header and footer tags, each one of those two objects has one single tag wich calls a method: <dtml-var doc_content> for the document <dtml-var method_content> for the method Each one of these two "submethods"(doc_content and method_content) displays the current object's properties, and are located at the root of the site, so they can be called from any folder. Document 'objectid' renders nicely this way, but I have problems with method 'objectid´, because it must use properties from an object with the same name, but located in a previous folder. How can I do that? I'd love to have something like this (for method_content, at the root) <dtml-with "previous_folder_of_objectid.objectid_translated_to_namespace"> <dtml-var anyproperty> </dtml-with> (where, after resolving, 'the_previous_folder_of_objectid' returns the first previous folder to the one containing the method, that is 'any_folder' ) Thanks for reading until this point. Zope messed up

Hello, At our site, someone installed the Python functions split2 and string in the Zope root. Due to some error, we cannot post anything now: we can't add articles and we cannot use the Zope content management page. We tried removing removing split2 and string. We can remove is from the harddisk, but it's still in the Zope management page. The management functions (rename, delete) still won't work. Upgrade weirdness

I recently upgraded from Zope 2.1.1 to Zope 2.2.4 (tried 2.2.5 as well) and I'm having some weird issues. Here's what I've done: Installed Zope 2.2.4 Started using INSTANCE_HOME Installed all products Copied over Data.fs* from my old Zope directory into $INSTANCE_HOME/var. When I pull up localhost:80 (I moved the port to 80) I get an error that indicates an AttributeError and __getitem__. This also happens when I attempt to access localhost/manage. I can pull up localhost/objectname but localhost/objectname/manage hangs the browser indefinitely. I'm looking for some ideas/suggestions on how I can fix this. It seems that the Zope developers is not really interesting by a java integration - Why ? At least, ejb & servlet are well used in a lot of companies. So, a product like Zope is usefull for them if and only if it can call some requests to some java components from zope.
