calling dtml method from external method

Hello all, I've created a simple DTML method, named TestZopeTime, to illustrate a problem I'm having: <html> <body> time: <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> </body> </html> When I invoke this method directly through a web browser, I do get what I expect -- a display of the current time. No problem. However, when I try calling this DTML method from an external method, I get the error report: "Name not found or not allowed: ZopeTime" I can comment out the ZopeTime() call, and see that the External method is able to complete a call to the DTML method. I've tried installing ZDebug just now, but that hasn't given me any clues yet. I also re-read the "How-To: Using External Methods". My external method looks like this: def MyExternalMethod(self, PARMS): return self.TestZopeTime() I've also tried: def MyExternalMethod(self, PARMS): return self.TestZopeTime(REQUEST=self.REQUEST) It seems like a through-the-web call to a DTML method sets up a different namespace than when I call the same method from an external method. Please ignore my previous mail. I managed to ignore the mapping flag for dtml-in , which of course solved my problem. Luckily I have colleeges that are clearer in the head than me .... Best regards Petter Enholm

Handling created objects, not in the Zope database

Hi, I am trying to map data from my SQL database into a list of ZClass objects. For all entires found in the SQL database I want to create temporary instances of ZClass objects, so that I can use the different methods in the class. The dtml-in call attempts to validate these elemets which causes the pop-up logon box to appear. I have tried to turn of validation in the source code and all my elements are displayed properly. Is there a way to "force" dtml-in into not performing this validation? Best regards Petter Enholm Snapper as

Its a good idea if people say what platform they are using. I got the MySQL stuff working (Win32) but the icon for the mysql connection is missing. would'nt mind but where its graphic should be there is a missing graphic box around 150 pixels wide which realy screws up the presentation. Problem to add an Instance of my own product

Hi ! I have just created a new product in ZOPE. Everything is great, but how I can add an instance of this product without using the management-screen of ZOPE. I want to add a new instance with properties in any folder I like using DTML. Thank for helping. Steffen

problem with ZUBB / no topic set

Hello, after installing ZUBB (ZDiscussions 0.6. right?) everything works fine with the single exception that the topic of no message gets set. That means, after posting, all messages show "(no subject)". The message preview HTML source still shows the correct value in the hidden input form tag named "title". Could the problem be a clash between the "title" form entry and the title of another Zope object? I am using ZDiscussions-0.6 and Zope 2.3.0. thanks --Oliver

alternative storage managers ?

Hi, I would like to store several huge data-objects (10Mb and more) in the ZODB by use of ZOPE (Zope-2.3.0b1), but in my first tries I discovered, that the access to folders that include several huge objects becomes very slow. I already tested the BerkeleyDB as an alternative --- it helped a little bit, but I had problems to get rid of unreferenzed objects by packing the BerkeleyDB; only the referenzes were deleted, but not the corresponding data in the BerkeleyDB. Does anybody know, if there are other alternative storage managers available? In the "ZODB How-To" relational storage managers are mentioned, but it's also mentioned that they are still experimental. For example is it possible to use the mySQL-DB and if so, where can I find infos about that stuff? Or is it necessary to store these objects externally as pickle-objects and store only a referenz to them in the ZODB ? best regards, Christoph
