finding zope python libraries.

hi, i've been noticing something happening in a rather sporadic way. sometimes when i try to install a new product -- the specific example right now is LoginManager -- i cannot get it to install correctly. i notice that some of the *.pyc files do not get generated; when i try to run these from the console, i get errors that indicate the .py file cannot find the appropriate class.method, etc., although in the lib/python/ directory, the class and methods are there. if i launch python from the console into interactive mode, and do the following, $ python >>> import sys >>> sys.path the returned value does not display the zope/lib/python/ directory -- so after reading a lot of python documentation, cruising the zope.org search facility, i can define the pythonpath in my shell, but this is good only for my console, how do i make these zope python libraries available to zope? ciao! greg. Basic, I am not very familiar with version 2.1.6, so I cannot help you specifically. I can however, recommend that you upgrade to a later Zope version. The latest stable version is 2.3.1 and is available at http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1/ If you move to a newer version and continue to have difficulty, I'll be happy to help you troubleshoot it. (this is the cleanest install I've figured out as a newbie) login as root Modify sources.list point to debian.org site $ apt-get update $ apt-get -u install python-base finishes successfully $ apt-get -u install zope works away then... gives me message about changes to ports, etc then prompts for username & password. and starts up Zope successfully. At least that's what it thinks $ lynx http://localhost:9673 should at least give me the welcomescreen. but I get - cannot access without authorization I immediately stop zope with /usr/sbin/zopectl stop and then make changes suggested in README.Debian.gz as mentioned above.

Trying to build a modify form for a database record.

Hi there, When I read from the database and present the values in a list I do the following <dtml-in select_statement> <dtml-var column_name> </dtml-in> Works like a dream. However I want the user to choose a record to modify and the display the complete ( not the key ) record in a form. <FORM ACTION="modifyUniversitetdo"> <dtml-var InputTable > <dtml-with SQL> <dtml-in select_universitet_tab_with_key> <TR><TH>Namn</TH> <TD><INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="namn" VALUE=<dtml-var namn> size="50"></TD></TR> <TR><TD></TD> <TD><input type=submit value=" Lagra information "> <input type=reset value=" Rensa formuläret "> </TD></TR> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> </TABLE> </FORM> However when the form is displayed the value in the <dtml-var namn> is cut at the first whitespace. acl_users list with comments

I have a acl_users directory for the local security management of a site. We use the employe number as the default user name. I would like to be able to ses the name of the employe as a comment in the management interface, like dtml-documents et methods in folders. Is it possible? How ??? Getting zope up&running remotely and from source on the average unix machine is really not hard (and on windows the remote part would be the only thing which would make it hard for me, but that's not zope's fault). And for learning zope there's no problem in running it locally. If you want to provide more data about your setup, I'm sure the people here on this list will get you up and running. cheers, oliver
