At the web you can only make some guesses how long a user stays on a page. You never will get feedback if the user simply goes elsewhere or closes the browser. For pay per view (in your case for time) you may - use a specialized application to play the video (not user friendly :) - force the user to do something to keep the video stream alive (also not user friendly :) First do a decision about which way you ensure pay-per-time then think about the implementation. An option would be of course pay-per-view without time limitation. Regards, Frank

Hello, I need to find out how long time a user spend on a page in my zope site. Guess you can do that by a session/cookie, but I don't know anything about it. Anyone who has tried to do something like this ? It's for a cinema that plays movies (pay-per-view), so I need to count the minutes from the movie begins to the user exits. Any good ideas ? Date fields in new ZClasses

I'm using Zope 2.3.2 and created a ZClass. I wanted to add a (date) field as a standard property for the class. However, unlike the string properties, I had to include an actual date in the data field. It gave me an error when I tried to leave it blank. Does anyone know why you MUST include a non-null date in a date field of a ZClass? Cheers, Ron

Creating a learning environment with CMF

I'm looking at creating a learning environment system for use within our institution using the Content Management Framework. The tutor for a given course unit would have a space in which they could provide notes and other resources - discussion forums, quizzes, etc. The tutor should also be to decide who gets to use the resources for their particular unit (although they won't be responsible for creating users in the first place, such details likely coming from an LDAP directory). I will probably want to be able to make custom CMF-aware tools available to all builders of course units. My question is whether each course unit should be a separate CMF Portal instance, or whether there should be one Portal instance and some folderish product being used for the course units? Finding virtual objects in dtml namespace

Inside my python I give people the ability to use dtml to change the output layout of the object however I want to give them the ability to do that with the management pages also. lets say I have an object foo and all objects have a manage_inline_edit_form method. I want to be able to do preferably <dtml-var foo> and be able to change the namespace such that it calls foos manage_inline_edit_form. Another acceptable way would be for something like <dtml-var editfoo> to call the manage_inline_edit_form of the object foo. The main caveat for something like this is I need these items to still draw correctly when put in the layout so I think it needs to be a namespace change rather then changing the rendering of the object itself by default. I have a class that wraps images and I want to be able to set the HTTP headers for the object when it is requested. Which method do you need to override in my python product to catch all requests to that object? Currently the structure is set up such that I have a Picture object and in its dict I store a regular zope Image object. It also stores a thumbnail and a good bit of other information. I want to override however that image gets handed off to the browser or to the rest of zope.
