zodbcda and zope 2.4.0b1

I'm installed zope 2.4.0b1 on a Windwos NT box. Though I did not succeed in installing as a NT service I could start zope using start.bat. However adding zodbcda from ZODBCDA-3_1_0b2-win32-x86.tgz (changes.txt mentions version 3.0.3 by the way) resulted in an import error with the following traceback: C:\Program Files\zope240b1>"C:\Program Files\zope240b1\bin\python.exe" "C:\Progr am Files\zope240b1\z2.py" -D ------ 2001-06-27T14:24:27 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.ZODBCDA Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE24~1\lib\python\OFS\Application.py, line 552, in import_p roduct File C:\Program Files\zope240b1\lib\python\Products\ZODBCDA\__init__.py, line 91, in ? ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found. The start process complained about Python15.dll if I recall correctly. Does this mean that the current version of zodbcda is not compatible with python 2.1 and can not be used in zope 2.4.0b1? You know... index_html could be an image, or anthing that a browser can render, and it'll still work as the default object that zope calls. PostgreSQL 7.1, PoPy 3.0 beta 1, and the ZPoPyDA included with PoPy 3.0b1 works great. I've built them all from source and they work fine with Zope 2.3.[123] on HP/UX 11.00. I've been using the 3.0b1 starting with PostgreSQL 7.1RC2 way back in early April. The database has grown from nothing to 346MB this morning; all data inserted through PoPy in Python or ZPoPyDA. I'm not sure you want to try a beta, but it's been stress tested here quite throughly. To make the sid package pre-install process faster, I looked in /etc/postgres, a directory NOT created by a source install of upstream postgres. To make things a bit more specific, I looked for a particular file in /etc/postgres. postgres 7.1 removed that marker file, and so the pre-install grumbles. This is probably good, as postgres 7.1 is currently not supported by popy. I have delayed uploaded a new version because upstream has repeatedly made "just around the corner' type statements. I think that I shall have to upload a new version with a "Conflicts With: .. 7.1", just to avoid this (hopefully) interim problem. Hi everybody, I was wondering if anyone knows of a product that gives a possibility to create a threaded discussion it should look a bit like http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-June/thread.html People would be able to discuss and reply directly in their browser. I´ve been looking on zope.org etc etc. but I just can´t seem to find anything. Hope someone can help me with this. Greetz, James

bloody newbie: access to subfolders [from python]

here we go for another stupid newbie question: I'm trying to deal with a subfolder within a pythonscript. I'll have to add to properties and to store a file from an upload form. I tried it as follows--- [id shall be the name of the subfolder and is given by me] container._.getitem(id).manage_addProperty('user',AUTHENTICATED_USER.getName(),'string') container._.getitem(id).manage_addProperty('data',ZopeTime().strftime('%m/%d/%Y- %I:%M%p'),'string') container._.getitem(id).manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile(id+'.pdf',context.REQUEST['pdf']) by trying out this, I discovered a access proplem: I'm logged in as admin, but the script won't work. So: What's the problem with it? note: everything I try with "container._.getitem(id)" fails 'cos of access props, but I don't know how to do it alright [I mean refering to the subfolder] could somebody please help me [again]? thx, Christian

Best way to integrate Apache and Zope authentication realms?

Hi, I have almost all my stuff in Zope, but we have a large package written in PHP that I need to integrate into our Zope system. Our stuff is frontended with Apache using the excellent VHM and some RewriteRules. I authenticate in Zope using UserDB against a MySQL database. The authentication in the PHP package is against MySQL too. Anyone know how can I get people to authenticate using the Zope interface (ie nice login box in the page) and be able to pass the authentication information to this PHP subsystem? I've got complete control over the realms used, the Zope server, the PHP code (ah, the power!). Hello! I've just installed it. Looks good, much better than alpha1 (of course). I imported my (and other's) ZClasses and successfulyy used. I installed all old products, and imported all working folders. I recreated catalogs - no problems so far. Minor inconvenience still - Import does not update left panel. SiteRoot and <a>

Hi Zopists, I use Zope 2.3.1 on both, FreeBSD and Debian together with Apache in SSL mode as a proxy server. I also use SiteRoot only from SiteAccess Zope core. I have developed a pythonn product which can store a URL and this URL is seen as a link when viewing this product in Zope. Part of my code which renders this links can be seen here: <a href="<dtml-var "getProperty('url')" url_quote>" target="<dtml-var "getProperty('target')">" class="linkFile"><dtml-var cz_id> (<dtml-var title>)</a> where product properties 'url' and 'target' holds URL and name of target window, respectively. On Zope 2.1.6 it was working fine under SiteRooted folder. But now, when working with Zope 2.3.1, the above noted code is evaluated in different way and returns also value of BASE1 CGI variable at the beginning of <a href="">. This is big problem when putting a foreign URL. I have looked for a documentation about SiteRoot and this 'special feature' and I am not sure if it is not a bug, but no bug finded. If you know how to solve this problem, let me know. Hi I am working on a word/excel macro to post the document to the Zope server. In this way the users can use Save On Zope menu option to post their docs to the Zope server. Macro will also collect the neccessary metadata as well and use the http protocol to post the data to the zope server. To have an easy-to-install macro I need a httpd client activeX with file upload capability. I am looking at the xmlhttp from M$ Now I have a version that posts the file and the metadata in XML format to the server. I need some help on the server side. the XML doc. sent to the server must be somehow converted back to metadata and file. xmlhttp encodes the data into the xml doc. so it must be decoded as well.
