Automatically add/remove file extensions via FTP or WebDAV?

Having Zope IDs with dots in them is a bit of thorny question. On the one hand, for downloading and uploading files through FTP or WebDAV and for working with external tools, it may be useful for files to have an extension. On the other hand, dots in IDs can be awkward for Zope. Also it can be advantageous to be able to have 'typeless' URLs, allowing you to change the type of object fulfilling a given role while keeping the same ID. So how about an option whereby objects have an appropriate file extension appended automatically when presented through Zope's FTP or WebDAV servers, and conversely have the extension stripped off when uploaded into Zope? I work on a Win-2000 machine with MySQL 3.23 and Zope 2.33, Python 1.52. to all the zope-gurus out there, it is no problem for me, getting Zope and Apache with mod_ssl working together via ProxyPass. A good HowTo allready exists (http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl) But with this method (ProxyPass and SiteRoot) you can only protect subtree with SSL. Has anyone allready a solution how to protect the hole zope tree but only in manage-mode. One can filter out *manage-URLs* with the rewrite-module on the Apache side, but how to transfer links inside Zope? thanks and greetings Andreas Hölzl

Searching phrases flakey in Zope?

I noticed that searching for phrases i.e. "search strings in quotes" with Products which use ZCatalog seems to produce undesired results. Two words in quotes is fine, Three words seems to yield spurious matches as if it is matching any of the words *in* the quotes, More than three words in quotes doesn't match anything even though the phrase is definitely in the documents being searched. Mixing words, boolean an quotes is a complete disaster and I have no idea what it is or isn't matching e.g. fred and andy not bob and "over the hill and beyond" Interestingly, if I use the search box on the Zope site itself phrases work fine as long as they are in *single* quotes. This doesn't work on my own Zope installation however. Also booleans seem to need to be in capitals i.e. AND and NOT. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it behaving normally but I just don't understand it? Why is the Zope site itself different? Why I am being so pedantic? Well I have a Document Library which can not be split easily into topics so it relies very heavily on text searches. For it to work these searches need to be quite specific, like you can do on Google or Altavista. I often mix boolean, words and phrases when using internet search engines and can narrow things down quite well that way. Regards, Simon B.

dtml-if for a boolean property

I'm using 2.3.2. I've got a dtml-method, index_outline, to display folder contexts for dynamic index_html pages. It had included the a dtml-if statement <dtml-if "_['id']=='index_html'"></dtml-if>, to prevent the index_html files themselves from displaying in the file list. It occurred to me that I had other files and types of objects that I didn't want to show in my index_html, so I'd be better off using a property (index_hide in this case) that I could set for individual objects. However, when I've tried to modify the above dtml-if statement for a boolean index_hide property, it doesn't work. What's the proper syntax for that? A value of true for index_hide should prevent it showing.
