equivalent of "missing=" in Python Script?

Hi I'm trying to do something in what is maybe a stupid way, but it sort of works. I am localising my application for different languages by using: <dtml-var some-variable missing="Default english text"> If there's a folder on the acquisition path containing "some-variable" as a DTML document or a property, you get the translation, otherwise you get the English text. Like I said, maybe a stupid way but it works. The alternative is support N different translated versions of the whole application, which is a lot more work, even though N == 2 at the moment. The problem I am having is all the pages that have <dtml-var title_or_id> in the standard_html_header always show the (English) document title of course. I want to write a Python script local_title to check if the current document has a property (say, title_property). I want to use the value as the name of a variable that will contain the localised title (if it's not missing). If there is no title_property, or it doesn't contain the name of a variable that exists, the script should just return title_or_id as before. So, 3 questions really: 1) Does anyone have a better idea for how to do this? 2) How do you get the value of a property on the current document? 3) How do you check if a variable is missing? ZClass upgrade problems

Finally, we want to upgrade from Zope 2.1.6 to 2.3.2 (Python 2.1). We now experience what many have recognized already: ZClasses are a bit volatile wrt. Zope upgrades I created a distribution under 2.1.6 and unpacked it in the new Zope 2.3 CVS (taken shortly before the 2.4 development hit the CVS). The imported ZClass is there, but when I try to view the "Basic" tab or try to do anything with a corresponding Z Instance, I get a "TypeError" exception: "String or Unicode string expected, None found". I have analysed this problem: During commit, a "DispatcherClass_ZPropertySheetsClass" instance should be pickled ("DispatcherClass" is my ZClass). This fails, because the class' "__module__" is "None". Two questions: 1. what is this strange module, that could not be loaded? In fact, I would be very astonished, if it could. 2. what should "DispatcherClass_ZPropertySheetsClass.__module__" be. Dieter

Hi, I am using Zope and with Apache and modrewrite: RewriteRule ^/stuff/ - [L] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/$1 [P] Zope is running on 8080. Accessing any zope content requires authentication, but accesing /stuff/ does not. Is there a way to set up apache to deny access to /stuff/ if a user has not already authenticated with zope? ZClass Selection Property and Catalog Aware questions

Hi, I have two simple (maybe stupid) questions: 1)I created a catalog-aware ZClass but its instances don`t catalog their content automatically as they are constructed. Did I miss something basic? 2)This class has a Selection property. If I understood correctly, I am supposed to write a DTML method to fill the selection. I did this in the "Methods" tab of my ZClass, but it doesn`t work... What am I missing??? Regards, Rogerio

Zope and Cocoo

I just installed Zope on MSWin2000. During installation i created an initial manager user login which does not work during my log in to the zope manager from the index it provides. I have tried using the command line passwd.py script to create a superuser login in the access file and creating a different manager login into some init file as well. I have not been able to log in as the initial manager or superuser. I read somewhere that it can be that the cgi is never getting the loggin info but am not sure if this is a problem or how to check? If anyone knows please email me ... thanks so much --Mate'
