Help with LoginManager

I am a new Zope user and I'm having trouble installing LoginManager. I am running Windows ME. First, I can't even unpack 0.8.8b1, so I used 0.8.6. one step closer to connecting Zope to MySQL

Hi, thanks to all the help I got, I'm a lot closer to connecting Zope to MySQL now and I think I know where the problem is. I have: - started with Suse Linux 7.0 - installed Zope 2.3.2 - installed MySQL 3.22.32 and Python 1.5.2-something with YAST - downloaded and installed MySQL-python-0.3.5, ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 as stated in the ebook I bought myself - downloaded and installed Distutils-1.0.2 - tried to compile the MySQL-python-0.3.5 - got the error message: Traceback (innermost last): File "/usr/zope/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 528, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/usr/zope/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/__init__.py", line 91, in ? import DA File "/usr/zope/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/DA.py", line 91, in ? from db import DB File "/usr/zope/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/db.py", line 89, in ? import _mysql ImportError: No module named _mysql I took a look at /usr/zope/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/db.py and it says in line 89: "import _mysql", hard coded. Which explains the error: I found no such file on my computer. So it seems, I still have to install something, right? What is it? I'll have a beer on you all when it works, promise! The old dmtl namespace question

I am sorry to ask the same question again, but I am still completely stumped after many hours of trying and reading. I have:- Folder1 - method1 Folder2 - method2 <- this method calls method3 - method3 When I call an object like this... >From method1 <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('variable','value')"> <- I want to set some variables too <dtml-var "folder2.method2"> The method works perfectly, except that it does not render. When I call it like this.... >From method1 <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('variable','value')"> <dtml-var "folder2.method2()"> It seems to have no namespace at all and causes an error (method2 is calling method3 and cant find it.) I have found a few similar posts to the mailing lists and most responses point to.. http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html which I have read over and over and still dont understand. It mentions _.None, and _ but I cant work out how they work. Basically I want method2 to have access to all the methods in folder2 as well as all REQUEST variables. Can someone please show some examples of how to do this. Thanks Tom

"Bad Request" error on calling a zsql method

Good day, I've been using Zope and Python for about two weeks now, and I've been able to figure everything for myself so far (with the help of this list and other docs, of course). I've figured how to work around the following problem, but I don't understand what causes the error in the first place. I have not been able to find an instance of the error type "Bad request" in this group or searching zope.org. The problem comes up when trying to call a zsql method with implicit argument passing. The zsql method (insertOccurences) declares the two arguments 'occurence' and 'problemID'. Anybody has an explanation for the error? I admit that I may still have some fundamental misunderstanding of the Zope namespace and of method calling (for example, why is it necessary to include _=_ in the arguments list to get the namespace in a script, even after declaring the binding?), so maybe the reason will be obvious to some of you Python/Zope Gods. Bonus question: The 'occurences' (plural) variable above was produced by using the :records type qualifier on a form (great feature by the way). I have not been able to figure the type of the returned object, and I am curious. If I iterate over the list, the sequence-item has the keys() method, but trying to set a key in a script (x['thekey']=y) produces the error ("object does not support item assigment"). Similarly, I can use getattr on the object, but setattr returns the error ('attribute-less object'). Is this due to the security limitations of Zope's own implementation of setitem and setattr? Any description of these limitations available somewhere? I suppose I can always try to find out from the appropriate .py file, but given my inexperience with Python, I don't have the time for that right now. If the issue is security, then is the only way to "fix up" (e.g. reformat a date string) items in a form record or records to do it in an external method? Cheers, Jean

dtml-with ONLY, on folders?

<DTML-WITH xxx ONLY> doesn't seem to work the way I expect, when using folders... I have: FolderA FolderA.dtmlmethod1 FolderA.FolderB FolderA.FolderB.dtmlmethod2 dtmlmethod1 contains: this is dtmlmethod1 dtmlmethod2 contains: <dtml-with FolderB only> <dtml-var dtmlmethod1 missing="no method1 found"> </dtml-with> When I view dtmlmethod2, I expect to see "no method1 found", but instead I see "this is dtmlmethod1" It appears that the "ONLY" part of my dtml-with isn't working? newbie: call dtml-method with parameter sequence-item

Hi! How does one call, say, a "Z SQL-method" Z(x) with Parameter x from inside a loop in a DTML-document with "sequence-item" as a parameter? Of course you can't <dtml-in "_.range(10)"> <dtml-call "Z(<dtml-var sequence-item>)"> </dtml-in> because you'd have to nest one dtml-tag in another. But what can you do?
