generating Python Scripts on the fly

Hello fellow Zope users, Have any of you ever used manage_addPythonScript(id, REQUEST=None) to create Python Scripts on the fly. I want to create a Python Script which simply returns a tuple of values from a form filled out by a user. Othe DTML and/or Python scripts would then use this generated Python script to automatically build a table layout in HTML. If anyone has ever used or knows the proper way to use manage_addPythonScript, please let me know. I want to add the script to a folder or possible a ZClass (adding to a folder is sufficient for now). Thanks for any assistance. Tom Palermo

Zope Bug? Exception Handling does not work properly...

Hello everybody, I am using the following code (as described in the Zope Tutorial) to handle the BadRequestException which occurs in my example if an image with the same name already exists in the directory. <dtml-try> <dtml-call "manage_addImage(PicName, attached_file.read(), '')"> <dtml-except BadRequestException> An Image with the same name already exists. Please choose a different one. </dtml-try> The problem is that <dtml-except BadRequestException> does not catch the exception. A <dtml-except> does, however, but that's not what I want. Using the Namespace binding

Hi Folks. Can some explain to me how I access DTML vars from a called python script? From what I've gleamed from the Zope book, I can set the Namespace binding for the script to expose the DTML namespace, but I'm having problems accessing it. I've tried _.varname, which gave me an attribute error and _varname is an illegal variable name. The variable is accessible from the calling DTML method via dtml-var Cheers. Optional parameters

Hi Folks. This might be the first of a few quick newbie questions. I hope that this is the best place to ask, please let me know if there's somewhere better. Is it possible to have optional parameters to a Zope python script? If I include the variable in the list of parameters and don't pass it in the form, Zope complains. Don't even care about slow at this point! Just the functionality.... So I can assume then that remote access of ZSQL methods is not possible?? Seems like ZEO is the answer for everything! <8^) If anyone can think of a reason why this would not work, please drop a note. Tried that... On the main Zope server, created an ODBC DSN that pointed to the other server with a drive letter mapping. Selected the drive, pointed to the database, clicked OK and it was done. However, when trying to establish a ZODBC connection using the new DSN, it states "an invalid connection string". This is also a confirmed problem using other access methods with another type of database connection program. I get the 'S1000' error which can mean 20 different things; some of them permission related. The servers are both Win2K and in the same domain structure logged on with the same Id. The files are visible and available cross the network. The connection can be made but it will not work. Very frustrating... Zope & MySQL: one step closer

Hi! As some of you might already know, I'm trying to connect Zope to MySQL which proves to be quite a hard thing for a small mind like mine. So I bought myself an ebook, and it says I need: Suse Linux 6.4 Zope 2.2.0 or higher MySQL 3.22.32 Python 1.5.2 ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 MySQLdb-0.3.5 I have Suse Linux 7.0, Zope 2.3.2 and the rest is just what the ebook wants. Of course I happily did everything I was told there, encountering no problems at all - until I tried to add a "Z MySQL Connection"-object which, as the book says, should be available in the "Ojects available"-menue, but wasn't. (Of course I restarted the server before.) Now I suspect, when the book was written, there was no Zope 2.3.2 and the explanation in the book worked for Zope 2.2.0 and every higher version that was released before the book was. In more detail, what I did was: - install MySQL and Python with YAST - download Zope 2.3.2, because Linux 6.4 comes with Zope 2.1.6 and the book says I need 2.2.0 or more - unpack the adapter and the interface into the directories named in the book - compile the interface - restart the server - get angry because after all this, my Zope wasn't changed at all Any suggestions?
