extract complete filepath from HTML input file-tag

Hi! I need to extract the complete path of an <input type=file name="my_file"> because if a PDF file should be uploaded, I call a python script which uses the linux pdftotext command (which should to know where the file is) to convert the file to plain text and pass this plain text to ZCatalog indexing system to have stored in zope the searchible content of a PDF too. The only thing I get from REQUEST['my_file'].filename is the file name without the path 'cause I work under linux May be you have some other tip for me? I would appreciate your help greetings Andrei

60GB Data.fs?

Hi there, We're planning a Yahoo! Clubs like system that should scale to about 30, 000 users. Assuming about 3,000 groups and 20MB per group (group functionality includes photo albums), gives a database size of 60GB. Assuming on average 3,000 users per day, 20 page views per users, gives about 60,000 page views (not a lot, but if it's all dynamically generated?). We'd like to use Zope for this, if it is possible. Other options are ok too; anyone have any experience with other ready-made systems? At this scale, how would ZODB hold up with respect to memory use and speed? I've heard rumors that it loads an index into memory on start-up. How would using Oracle as a Storage (ZODB semantics) help? Going full-scale RDBMS means we'd have to reimplement a lot of existing useful tools, so we'd rather not do that if using Zope. I know we'll have to play with cacheing as well, and as I see there are these options: - SQL method cacheing - Using StandardCacheManagers to cache Python and DTML methods - Using StandardCacheManagers to cache pages (using, e.g., Squid as an HTTP accelerator) - ZEO client object cacheing Any other ideas? Slow calendar rendering in Netscape

Hi, I'm playing with the calendar tag, based on code from the Zopista at zopezen (on zope 2.3.2), and have found its really slow to render in Netscape (v 4.7), whereas IE5 zips through it. I've tried putting the dtml- method in a RAM cache (no change) - is it the brower struggling to render a complex table? Any tips from speed freak zope heads? Or should I not use a calendar with NS, and can I use HTTP_USER_AGENT to filter it out? Cheers, Rob

Testing for NULL in ZSQL results

Hello, I've got a Python script that calls an SQL method. Some of the returned rows may contain NULL values. How do I test for those? Right now I'm using same_type() to check a value against the datatype of the column. Wondering if there's a better way. Thanks Wade Leftwich Ithaca, NY

Problem with ZOracleDA

While using ZORACLEDA (the prebuilt NT4 binary) I'm getting the following error for an insert statement, when I copy the insert statement to PL/SQL it works fine ?? Any ideas Error: (24374, 'ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch') The ZSQL looks something like this: insert into dropdown_meta_table (mt_id, table_name, labelColumn, valueColumn) values(<dtml-sqlvar mt_id type=string>, <dtml-sqlvar table_name type=string>, <dtml-sqlvar labelColumn type=string>, <dtml-sqlvar valueColumn type=string>)

How does Namespace Acquisition in DTML methods called from PythonScripts work?

I have a folder 'foo' in my top level Zope folder which contains folders called 'sql' and 'forms'. The 'sql' folder contains sql methods, and the 'forms' folder contains fragments of a multi-step form. In addition to the two folders, 'foo' contains 'forms_header' and 'forms_footer' DTML methods which are common to all form fragments. Finally there is a PythonScript called 'process'. In 'process' I want to manipulate the data collected from the forms, call the appropriate ZSQLmethods (which work) and then call the next form fragment. The problem I am encountering is when I do something like: return context.forms.fragment1() I get a KeyError for every document/method called from within fragment1. What do I need to pass to fragment1 in order to get acquisition to behave as it would if I called '/foo/forms/fragment1'? Hopefully I have explained this properly since I have been up all night working on this. TIA... Regards, Jarrod Kinsley

passing parameters to DTML Methods/Documents

There's no official way to pass parameters from DTML code to other DTML Methods or Documents, is there? I guess one can always do a <dtml-var expr="REQUEST.set('param', 'value')">, and use <dtml-var param> in the callee, but that seems kludgey. -- Cheers!
