ZODB for many-to-many relation

I wonder if ZODB is suitable for the following problem, which I'll describe in relational terms: There are articles and writers (authors). Each article has at least one writer, but it can have more than one writer. I need to list all articles of a given writer, and all writers of a given article. A pure relation database solution would be as follows: To escape putting list of writers in 'articles' table, there is an 'article-writer' table, called 'aw'. It contains valid combination of writers & articles. aw table has these columns: a, w. articles table has these columns: a,other-data writers table has these columns: w,other-data To list all articles of a writer No.1 : SELECT aw.a, articles.other-data FROM aw, articles, writers WHERE aw.w=1 AND writers.w=1 AND articles.a=aw.a To list all writers of article No.2: SELECT FROM aw,articles,writers WHERE aw.a=2 AND article.a=2 AND writers.w=aw.w Is there an OO solution to this situation? -- Milos Prudek, confused ZODB newbie

Trouble installing the mySQL drivers

Hello, Previously I had no problems installing the MySQL-python and mySQLDA on my RH6.2 but after totally reinstalling everything (now - RH6.2, python 2.1, mySQL 3.23.37, mySQL-python-3.0.5.1, mySQLDA 2.0.6) all compiled from sources... What should has gone wrong? Does python load to an interactive prompt all right? Can we have the traceback? try starting zope with the -D option to see if that dumps more information. Inserting multiple files.

I was thinking in a way to insert my files through FTP with the meta_type that I want. Then I tought: Why not change it after insert it?? Is there a way?? I tryed to do another thing too... but I think I won't work. IIS and Zope with pcgi

Greetings I'm trying to get Zope 2.3.2 to work through IIS (on NT 4.0), but with no luck. I've followed all the instructions found at Zope.org, but still get this error message when trying to link to http://myserver/cgi-bin/zope.pcgi "Temporarily Unavailable The resource you requested is temporarily unavailable - please try again later. missing publisher "D:\WebSite\z2.py"" I've tried this with the publisher set to D:\WebSite\pcgi\pcgi_publisher.py in zope.pcgi with the same effect. One thing that might provide a clue is that when starting Zope with start.bat it does show an error(200) ZServer cannot write PID file This message, about the PID file, does not appear when I start Zope without trying to get pcgi to work. ZServer still responds on port 8080, but I can't access it through pcgi. Does anybody have any clues? Thanks in advance. Eric M. Hi, some people have solved the problem you have simply switching to psycopg. the psycopg type-system, apart from being fully customizable, treat the oid type the correct way, returning an integer. on the other side you don't get automatic management of lob (that popy does) but with 7.1 and unlimited row size less and less people use lobs anymore. OS Error 24: Too many files open

Folks, Config: Zope 2.3.2 / Solaris 2.6 After 23 days of adding and removing files, we've bumped into a file descriptor table problem on our Solaris 2.6 platform. The situation was reported in a standard Zope error web response with the following contents: Error Type: OSError Error Value: [Errno 24] Too many open files: '/var/tmp/(a)12939.7266' Unfortunately, I was unable to "lsof" the crippled Zope instance. However, I have looked at the restarted instance and found twelve long-standing open files in the /var directory. Since file descriptors are a scarce resource in Solaris 2.6, I've jumped the ulimit value up to 256 and Zope is off and running again. Are long-standing temporary files a typical Zope signature? Did I miss a discussion of this topic? Regards, Dave
