tokens and multiple in sqltest

I'm baffled by Zope behaviour with multiple option of sqltest. I have a Z SQL method list_art_writers: --- list_art_writers --- SELECT fname, lname FROM writers WHERE <sqltest m_id type=nb multiple>; --- end --- This method has a single parameter: m_id:tokens This ZSQL method works perfectly when called from a test interface. RBrowser (Mac OS X) FTP client converts all objects to DTML Documents

Hi, I'm using an FTP client called RBrowser in Mac OS X. When I update any Zope object with this client (DTML Method, Python Script) it gets converted to a DTML Document. I remember that this used to be a Zope problem, but that it was fixed, and indeed all other FTP clients I tried don't have this problem. So obviously this is a problem with this specific client. Can someone please describe what an FTP client needs to do - or not do - in order to be compatible with Zope, so I can forward this information to RBrowser's author and get him to fix the problem? RAM Cache Manager "next_cleanup" not working?

Hi, I implemented a Ram Cache Manager. I cached some methods and they really get cached, but the cleanup_interval is not working, i.e, if I define in my Ram Cache Manager a cleanup interval of 5 seconds I will not see my method's cache being updated after that small amount of time. Only using the invalidate button of my method's cache tab I'm able to cleanup and soo refresh the method's cache. I've been looking into the code and there is something weird with StandardCacheManagers.RAMCacheManager because the ZCache_set which defines the next_cleanup time, is never called unless at __init__ time. This cache properties are well embeded into OFS.DTMLMethod and OFS.DTMLDocument and so my approach to the code will take some more time, but a simple test with 232 and 233 dont work. My simple test is: -create a RAMCacheManager, say "mycache" -create a dtml method "test1" with the code <dtml-var ZopeTime> -create a dtml document "test2" with the code <dtml-var ZopeTime> -associate test1 and test2 with "mycache" -define a cleanup interval of 5 seconds and a threshold entries of 1 and then call "test1" and "test2" several times until more than 5 seconds had passed. Isnt suppose to after 5 seconds I get a different value from my method or document, in this case, a diferent zopetime? Is there anyone really using RAM Cache Manager with success, i.e, can you prove to me the cleanup_interval works? Or else there must be something really big I'm missing here. Meanwhile I'll look into the code. kludge around byteserving problem (2.4)

It seems that 2.4.0b3 has a problem with byteserving, but I haven't figured it out enough to submit a problem report. The symptom, however, is that large (>32KB) PDF objects can be downloaded and viewed in an external helper app, but don't appear in the Adobe plugin. My kludge is to make a simple Python Script that simply serves up the object's data. request = context.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE objectname=str(request.other['traverse_subpath'][0]) object=context[objectname] RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-type', object.getProperty('content_type')) return object.data This guarantees that no byteserving will take place (because it's dynamic). Named "viewfilter", it's called as .../viewfilter/foo.pdf I'll try to figure out what's really going on and submit it to the tracker. --kyler

Lost with ZEO Setup

I have tried to follow the "Advanced Production Site with ZEO" from http://www.zope.org/Members/dshaw/AdvancedSiteSetup but have not been able to make it work. I am trying to use Zope-2.3.3 and ZEO-1.0b3 on a Solaris 8 box. I have followed the steps exactly (all the directory names are the same, and I have used the configuration files and startup scripts from that page. Acquisition bug ?

Hi, I got a MailHost object at /site/MailHost that's used successfully from objects in /site subfolders. There's a particular folder /site/subscribe from which there's no way to use this MailHost (object not found). I can't understand cause there are no special security features in that MailHost or in that particular folder! In addition, DTML documents from that folder, including the one that has the <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> can acquire other objects from /site like the standard_html_header. The only workaround I found is to make a copy of this MailHost in /site/subscribe. Any hint ? Regards --Gilles

multi-language apps

hi, i would appreciate feedback from the list on the implementation of multilanguage applications in zope. my experience is in php, where i have been working wih 'dictionaries' based on associative arrays, e.g. key_water-> 'it' -> 'acqua', 'en' -> 'water', ... and then retrieving definitions via something like getdef($selected_language,key_water) other localization issues (e.g. changing international phone prefixes, currency etc.) are then dealt with by checking the $selected_language variable (typically associated to a cookie). i have read about the dtml-vary tag, but i would not see it impractical to implement database-based dictionaries close to the associative array thing. Difference between zope and apache

Hi, I've just noticed an annoying difference in the handling of directories in zope. If I create an directory /myDirectory, put an index_html file there, and a my.css file the index_html should use in the same directory refering to it with <link rel=stylesheet type=text/css href="my.css"> in the head of my document I get a structure that would work perfectly fine in apache, but not in zope. /myDirectory /myDirectory/index_html /myDirectory/my.css Accessing http://example.com/myDirectory in zope would give me the files http://example.com/myDirectory/index_html and http://example.com/my.css In apache the server would return a location header like: Location: http://example.com/myDirectory/ and then my browser would know it should ask for http://example.com/myDirectory/my.css Zope doesn't seem to set the location header, so asking for http://example.com/myDirectory/ http://example.com/myDirectory returns different results if the index_html contains relative URLs below /myDirectory/. Bug or feature? -jf
