Hi, i am new to Zope but it already works for me, good thing it seems to be, thanks! My problem is to understand how to use Zope in different modes. As i see, it could be done by itself, only ZServer; and with Apache like PCGI and FastCGI and mod_pcgi (that one i havnt tried yet). Only thing i cant figure out is how to get 2.3.3 working in a single-threaded mode. I am just curious about it, is it possible any more at all? doc/INSTALL.txt says There are two ways to run Zope: -- ... - If you *only* want to use PCGI and you don't need multi-threaded operation, you can have a special program, the pcgi_publisger, start Zope for you. See the WEBSERVER.txt file for details on ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ using Zope with an existing webserver. and doc/WEBSERVER.txt is quite vague about it :( saying: Using Zope in single-threaded mode with pcgi_publisher ------------------------------------------------------ The installation process should create a 'Zope.cgi' PCGI file. Copy the 'Zope.cgi' file to your web server's cgi-bin directory. On Unix you can also create a symbolic link to 'Zope.cgi' from your cgi-bin directory. For example:: ln -s /home/amos/Zope/Zope.cgi /usr/local/apache/cgi-bin/Zope At this point you should perform any other steps you web server requires to install and configure a CGI script. Note: For more information on PCGI check out Jeff Bauer's "PCGI pages", http://starship.skyport.net/crew/jbauer/persistcgi/. When your Zope.cgi file is correctly configured as a CGI script with your web server, you are ready to access Zope through the web. You should point your browser at: 'http://youmachine.example.com:8998/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/manage' (Your URL maybe be different depending on how your web server is configured.) You should be prompted to enter a username and password. Enter the Zope "super manager" name and password. ---------------------------- AND WHAT I DID IS LIKE THIS ---------------------------- To get single-threaded Zope going and did the following 1. installed Zope from source like 'python w_pcgi.py' into /home/zope/zopew 2. made /home/zope apache's DocumentRoot and let it treat all files ending as .cgi CGI scripts 3. assured apache treats http://localhost/zopew/test.cgi as CGI and executes it. 4. without starting Zope with ./start and without redirecting Auht. headers from apache i issued in a brauser http://localhost/zopew/Zope.cgi/manage/, and without ending slash and without manage/ but nothing happened. It tired and eventually timed out. (with message - Temporarily Unavailable, i believe its Konquerer) I expected it to start to communicate with Zope, without ZServer. When i tried to run ./Zope.cgi from the command line, it hanged to, seems like waiting for input. Practically i can do very well without single-threaded mode but i have a old machine and there runs weird Zope, what i try to understand. it has proccesses like nobody 1605 0.0 0.3 6720 3464 ? improved load_site.py

I put a couple hour's work into the stock load_site.py that comes with 2.3.3, and made the following changes & improvements: -r replace files (individually - doesn't blow away directories) by re-uploading them. -R replace directories (blowing away anything inside) -a use Audio product for any audio files (since I was uploading a site with some mp3's) -A delete and re-Add any audio files (kind of a fixup for refreshing a pre-Audio site upload) I cleaned up the handling of images as well, recognizing more image types, and improved the error handling, so the thing will print errors but will not bomb out. The -v option spits out lots more info now. Also, used url_quote, since the original load_site didn't and thus couldn't deal with filenames with spaces in them (sure, it's a no-no, but the site was hosted on a Mac where such things are a non-issue). Adding image property to ZClass?

Is there a way to add an image property to a ZClass? I created a ZClass to allow users to create a personal profile. The ZClass maintains their user information (name, address, etc.). I would like them to also be able to upload ONE image for their picture. Is there a way to do this and only allow one image? Thanks in advance. Virtual hosting - help!

Hi, I've got virtual hosting working on my test system by following the steps outlined by Alan Capesius - http://twsite.bizland.com/twzop0015.htm It works well but it took me a while to work out that it did work - I'm in Australia and have .com.au sites and I think the site access rule is set for only one dot (.com). I'm not very good with this string split stuff sooo... can someone give me some pointers to allow for all contingencies (.com and .com.au)? Shame on me! It was a namespace problem, simply solved by modifying my metDestroy by adding the line <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('oneObject',id)"> and using the variable oneObject in manage_delObjects([oneObject]) But I still want to know how to refresh a tree in DTML, after adding or deleting nodes. regards, Rogerio

Hi all, I am posting this message again, since I modified my code, without progress... I use dtml-tree to show a hierarchy of folders containing exclusively instances of, say,MyZClass. The user can use the tree structure to add and update MyZclass instances,which properties are set by acquisition. A funny thing happens when I try do delete an instance: the folder containing the instance "looses" the id showed on the tree (its path become something like 127.0.0.1/Cities//) and the actual object that I would like to delete is not destroyed at all! I used this method as both a MyZclass method and as a method in my main folder (Cities). The behavior was the same... I had to delete the folder where I tried to delete the instance so that the tree could "remember" the real folder structure (that was not affected!) The folder structure is Cities City1 Category1 MyZclass1 MyZclass2 MyZclass3 ... Category2 MyZclass4 MyZclass5 MyZclass6 ... Category3 ... City2 ... City3 ... ... One more thing: how can I refresh the tree after deleting or adding an object? I mean, how can I redirect from the Add/Delete forms to the tree form and refresh the tree? Thanks in advance, Rogerio

Dear Sir We have Installed Zope on Windows NT 4.0/IIS 4.0. I did all the changes as needed for IIS. But When I tried to Logon to Zope. It's giving Unauthorised Access. I have pasted the Error message. Please help Us in resolving the problem. ERROR MESSAGE HTTP Error 401 401.1 Unauthorized: Logon Failed This error indicates that the credentials passed to the server do not match the credentials required to log on to the server. from ZClass attribute method to ZInstance?

I am seeking enlightenment (but please don't answer with a koan ;-) I've asked this question before, got no reply, and worked around the problem by using a python script instead of a dtml method, but I needed to add another method to my ZCLass yesterday, and this started to bug me again, because the code would be simpler in a dtml method than in a python script (one loop, no logic). I defined a ZClass based on ObjectManager. I would like a dtml method attribute of the ZClass to loop over the contained objects (of another ZCLass type), i.e. <dtml-in "ObjectValues('Field Interface')"> But when I call that method from a dtml document, ObjectValues() is not called on what I want, i.e. the instance of my ZCLass container, and so it returns nothing (it does not cause any error, it just returns an empty list). If this was a straight OO environment, I would expect to be able to ask for something like this.ObjectValues(), but I know this is not the case in Zope; 'this' corresponds to the calling dtml document, and not to the ZClass instance to which my method is an attribute of. In the equivalent script, I can use container.ObjectValues, and I have verified that this works. Is there any way to do this (i.e. access the container) in a dtml method, and if not, why not? Here are the two forms of what I want to do, the python script form, which works as expected, and the dtml method form, which doesn't work. ------ python script (works): for val in container.objectValues('Field Interface'): <print stuff based on val> return printed ------- dtml method (does not work because objectValues returns []): <dtml-in "objectValues('Field Interface')"> stuff based on sequence-item </dtml-in> ------- Cheers, Jean

Acquired namespaces within a python product class method?

I'm doing some work on a python product with several classes; one of those classes is a site container designed to provide a bunch of useful methods to any object that can acquire them. I have method1() which is actually used by DTML methods, etc, and method2, which is called by method1(): class foo(OFS.Folder): """container-type class)""" def method1(self): return self.method2() def method2(self): return 'something' I have a folder hierarchy like such: [sitefolder] (instance of class "foo" provides | method1 and method2 via | the product's "foo" class code) +[subfolder] (Folder that contains a TTW python method called method2) My problem is that in this case I want to create a method2 in the ODB that exists in a subfolder of this container, so that method1 (which is acquired from the parent folder of this subfolder), called in the context of subfolder, should call method2, but from the namespace of the current context, rather than self (the context of the sitefolder). The problem is that the following doesn't work: def method1(self): return method2() How would I get method1(), which resides is acquired, to use the current namespace when calling method2 from a URL like /sitefolder/subfolder/method1? I've tried a few things, but I am a bit confused... Just completely disregard my previous post. -- migrate.py is meant to run as a Zope application, not as an extension, hence calling Zope.app() caused the reference error. I fixed it up to run as an extension with some quick hacks.
