Oracle and long raws

Hello All, I'm trying to retrieve a long raw from Oracle and interpret specific bytes of it as integers according to a proprietary protocol. So far, I have: - a Z SQL method that retrieves some other columns and the long raw - a pluggable brain that assumes the long raw is a string and executes ord() on various characters - a DTML document that displays the various fields and the results of functions from the pluggable brain The main problems seem to be: - the uninterpreted long raw displays as a string containing garbage - the interpreter returns numbers that are unrelated to the data I expect Are long raws supported in DCOoracle? If so, can someone please provide me with advice about using them? If not, can someone please provide me with advice about where to start looking to extend it? (I know OCI 7 and some OCI 8) Thanks in advance, J. Cone

Automatic Indexing at Regular Times

Hi all, I've been playing around with the Zcatalog and it seems quite an interesting product to use. However, I want to be able to reindex objects and pull in new ones if they are there 'automatically' without having to do this manually (obviously not something you'd want to do on a regular basis). Is there some way of doing this in Zope - Interval of update: 2 days - or something like that without having to resort to cron jobs etc. I'm pretty sure there isn't - but is there any plans afoot to do this in the future? Is the new versions of Zope paving the way for this? I seem to remember XML/RSS site summary products having this problem when I looked at them - having to manually update them really is not an option especially when you have a lot of them. If you are going to do neat stuff with cataloguing and searching then I think automatic indexing is absolutely essential, especially when the Zope blurb says it has it's own built in search engine etc. Thanks in advance. Problems with tokens disappearing

I'm getting this really weird problem with tokens. I have a tokens property of a ZClass (was also happening with a Folder) called Members. I add a new item to this list via a python script using context.Members.append(newitem) I then run the following script members = [] for m in context.Members: user = container.qryGetPersonInfo(username=m) if len(user) == 1: members.append(user[0]) return members and the result keeps changing between an empty list and what it's supposed to be. I'm working on some pretty trivial tags ( once you figure out how to munge sqlgroup and sqlvar ) work that allow <dtml-sqlsetgroup> <dtml-sqlsetvar col_name=title_col name=title_or_id type=string> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqlsetvar col_name=id_col name=id type=string> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqlsetvar col_name=misc_col expr='None' type=string> </dtml-sqlsetgroup> to expand to: ( note that the 3rd col isn't there - I haven't figure out a good way to do it yet -- thinking omit unless a default= is specified. ) title_col='Our Test Page', id_col='wee' with a usage somewhat envisioned: UPDATE table SET title_col='Our Test Page', id_col='wee' So that update methods can have the same flexibility that select methods do currently. Has anyone done this already? Currently I'm doing: String.commands[SQLSetVar.name] = SQLSetVar for each initialization of a dtml tag. Variable File Include

Hello all, I'm attempting to do variable file includes, where the actual file name is held in a column in a database, but I am having a few issues. I'm attempting to do: <dtml-in plugins> <dtml-if expr="userpluginposition == 3"> <dtml-var pluginfilename> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> But, with no luck. Is there another way to do? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Jason

Duplicates

Hi, my problem is that I have a site with information which should be displayed in two parts of my tree structure. Like this: - a - b - c (1st. subtree) - d - e - f - g - h (2nd. subtree) - i - j and the content in c and h should be the same. But I don't want the files (methods or whatever) in both subtrees, but to refer from h to c without the user in h realizing that he is in the other subtree. This means, I don't want a real copy of the content (because of update effort)... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance... Martin

Testing the performance of SQL Methods

I want to find the perfect caching settings on our Z SQL Methods in the Advanced tab, and to do this I have prepared a little script that loops through a bunch different setting combinations and calls different little methods that does the processing. Let's not worry about the settings or the data analysis for the moment. What I want is a stupid little function that uses a SQL method and is very process heavy and should use the internal caching. So far I have tested a few different little functions: - One that reads lines from a file, checks if the line exists, adds the line. (about 10 000 selects and about 10 000 insert statements) - One that reads 5 lines from a file, check if one of them, adds the new of the five. More or less like the above but it waits a little bit - One that selects all records from a table 10 times per setting (10*5000 records selected per setting) None of these methods have produced any useful results, except from one: No correlation. The only deviations I see in process performance is depending on the activity of my Windows 2000. If Outlook decides to go and check for new mail, the particular test during that time takes a few milliseconds longer. Say something that I can code that will surely use the internal caching of Z SQL Methods. Is there a way of safely prove that Z SQL Method result caching is actually being done.
