Strange Psycopg and Zope behaviours

Hi all, I've found some strange things with the ZpsycopgDA (v0.99.4) and Zope233. Through several areas of my zopesite that were migrated to psycoPG I've notived the following: a) It seems that a psycopg ZSQL method that dont DIRECTLY pass variables through the <dtml-call> does not throw an error nor does it affect the database. It simply does nothing which is not good. b) <dtml-in>item:records</dtml-in> constructions dont work either. It seems to not be able to understand that it will decode a list through iteration. (no exception raised either) c) As the adapter for SQLSession, Something causes SQLSession to generate a new session ID each request, which makes me guess that no insert is done on the SQLSessionCreate method. Note that all of the above has worked for a year and a half with PoPy, though not reliably. Can anyone offer some suggestions as to why this may be or methods to look at as far as debugging the code? I have pasted one of the examples where coding does not work: store(DTML Method): ... ... <dtml-in "getPostData(transactID=transactID)"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('https://foo.com/paymenow.p?transnr=%s&amount=%s&company= %s&firstname=%s&lastname=%s&address=%s&zip=%s&city=%s&state=%s&country=%s&em ail=%s&version=engels&currency=USD&vat=%s&method=ss' % (transactID, url_quote(totalamount), url_quote(company),url_quote(firstname), url_quote(lastname), url_quote(address), url_quote(zipcode), url_quote(city), url_quote(usstate), url_quote(country), url_quote(email), url_quote(vat)))"> </dtml-in> ... ... The <dtml-in "getPostData(transactID=transactID)"> (among others) returns no data. The page returns blank instead of redirecting, and if you put text in various places, the code seems to execute with no results. Run the ZSQL method stand-alone and it works properly. What gives? DTML namespaces

I'm going to convert my DTML templates to Page Templates, but in doing so I have to debug my old messy DTML. If my DTML is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['name']">, I then know where it comes from. That's a lot better than <dtml-var name>. Would it be possible to use some kind of debugger or something to see where things come from at run time? I can imagine that the renderer of DTML looks something like this: <pseudo code> # Someones written <dtml-var name>, let's find it if REQUEST.has_key('name'): return REQUEST.name elif DTMLtemplate.has_key('name') return DTMLtemplate.name elif Container.has_key('name'): return Container.name elif Aquisitionpath.has_key('name'): return Aquistionpath.name else: raise NameError, "Can't find 'name'" </pseudo code> If this exists, I could add a bunch of print lines in there to debug where things come from and then I could see exactly how to rewrite my DTML to TAL. Hi folks, I have just installed zope on my FreeBSD box. The problem is that it's dryving me crazy. It's very complex. Is there a source of documentation like the one we can see (for instance) for MySQL. Zope documentation is very poor, why? Another question that's catching my hears: Why is zope not written in C? Zope on FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE - Doesn't start on bootup!

Hi, Have checked the mail archives but haven't turned up anything relevant. A few postings but they were related to compile errors. A very bizarre problem is happening when running Zope at boot time on FreeBSD 4.3 where the process is run, it forks, the child process runs but seems to disappear without a trace when running the ZServer __init__.py script. The function max_sockets.max_select_sockets() seems to cause the child process to exit without being handled by the except clause that has been put in. We have put print messages all the way through, and see the entire script run once, then on the second time (for the forked child process) we see just before the max_sockets function, then nothing. The log file is not very descriptive, just says About for fork Have forked with PID xxx Aaaiieee exited with error code 256 We can start up Zope manually without a problem, log in as root and run the same command as in /etc/rc.local, but when run from /etc/rc.local it just dies constantly. Anyone have similar problems? What was the fix? Have checked the sysctl variables from Boot time and post-boot time, and none of them seem to stand out.. securelevel is always -1 (anything goes)..
