Creating properties in python products

Hi, I have developed some custom products in python and this products has their own properties. Later I need to creat new basic properties. The objects with only the initial basic properties acquire the new properties but objects tha has other properties (created in the management interface) don´t. And because in this objects the other properties has the same name that the new basic properties ever if I delete the other properties I can´t create (in the management interface) an propertie with the same name tha the propertie defined in the python product (but no propertie with this name are show in the management interface). I am using Zope 2.3.3. Thanks, Georges Baladi

Hi Everybody I'am just begining with Zope. working with 2.4.0, win98 in a local environment. I need to put some autocas dwf files and see them using the Volo View plug-in. I test this with a MS Word file and worked great, but with the dwf file I always get a Drawing File Not Found error (I think this error is produced by the volo view plug-in, not Zope) . Anybody can help me on this? Thanks Cristian

Getting a specific object in Python from an id string (Was [Zope]: Python method for getting contents of a sub-folder)

I have created a Python script, but I need to pass a parameter that is a string of the id of the desired object. python script "get_staff_info" parameter list: oid # the id of the object that I want returned The following code will get the (currently only) DTML document in the staff folder: return context.staff.objectValues('DTML Document') The only question that I have is how do I get the object whose id=oid? There ought to be a function that would return the object based the id (a string that can be passed as a parameter that could/would be stored in another object). I know that there are objectItems(), objectIds, and objectValues(), but I would have to iterate through the result and perform a comparison. Is that the only way to do it, or is there a handy API that will just cut to the chase? Simple (?) getattr question: ignore acquisition

Howdy... In a nutshell: I want to get some attribute of an object without it using acquisition - ie the attribute is returned if and only if the object has it _itself_. I'm trying to use _.getattr() but this is acquiring - I need something which doesn't acquire. In more detail: Folder "gimbo" contains two folders, "notes" and "queries". Queries has subdirectories, some of which have a "notes" property (a string). In "queries", I want to use something like: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <dtml-let f = sequence-item> <dtml-try> <dtml-var expr="_.getattr(f, 'notes')"> <dtml-except>   </dtml-try> </dtml-try> </dtml-in> to display the notes if they're present, and display a blank space if they're not. Unfortunately, for those folders which _don't_ have a notes property, the _.getattr() call in the above is picking up the "notes" folder from higher in the hierarchy - not what I want. I realise that by carefully choosing names I can avoid this, but I'd rather avoid that burden if possible. So, is there a way of doing this which doesn't attempt to acquire? CLIENT_HOME NameError

Hi! After restarting my zope i got following error: Traceback (innermost last): File "/usr/local/Zope-2.3.3-linux2-x86/z2.py", line 548, in ? zdaemon.run(sys.argv, os.path.join(CLIENT_HOME, Zpid)) NameError: CLIENT_HOME This Zope instance was running for about a month. We never had any problems with it. It's running on linux SuSe 7.2 Any ideas, hints? Problem with Aquisition

Hi there, I've got some problems understanding Zope's aquisition mechanism. I have created a directory structure like this: FolderA/ |- Grafix/ | |- image1 |- FolderB/ |- standard_html_header |- someothermethod |- somedoc |- Grafix/ | |- image2 |- image3 |- FolderC/ |- somedoc |- FolderD/ | |- somedoc |- Grafix/ |- image2 I have some Image-Objects in each of the "Grafix" folders. In the topmost 'Grafix/'-Folder lies global stuff like headers and neutral logos. In 'FolderB/Grafix/' lies stuff only used by FolderBs childs In 'FolderC/Grafix/' is an Image-Object which should replace image2 in 'FolderB/Grafix/' with the same ID. The standard_html_header method now should show 'image1', 'someothermethod' - which it self should show 'image2' depending on the object it's called from (to show different logos for 'FolderB/somedoc' and 'FolderC/somedoc' - and image3. The 'somedoc'-Documents call standard_html_header, which looks like this: ------- std_html_hd --------- <dtml-var "Grafix.image1"> <dtml-var someothermethod> <dtml-var "Grafix.image3"> ----------------------------- I get a bunch of AttributeErrors because "Grafix.image1" can't be found in FolderB, Grafix.image3 can't be found in FolderC. Grafix.image2 is found in FolderB, FolderC and FolderD, as I expected, so aquisition obviously works here... My question is: Why doesen't work the aquisition for Grafix.image1 and Grafix.image3? And how could I work around this problem (in real life, the 'Grafix'-Folders contain lots of images, so I can't put them in their parent-folders and giving each Grafix-Folder an unique name isn't a solution to the problem either ;-( TIA Karsten

Access problems

I've created a list with the code below, however the only person who has access this is a manager, however if I delete this my other users have access. Inheriting from ObjectManager

Hello, I am using Zope 2.3.3. In order my class ChannelFolder can contain other objects, I subclass it from ObjectManager. All works fine until I try to create other instances of the ChannelFolder class IN a ChannelFolder instance (let's call the latter A). In that case, these ChannelFolder objects are not created in A as expected but in the container of A (so, one level too high). I am using the following instructions: newChannelFolder=ChannelFolder(id, title, description) self._setObject(id, newChannelFolder) to create and place the ChannelFolder objects in their container. Can you put me straight? I have a folder structure like this... Folder:Delia ZSQLMethod: get_categories() Folder:Admin XXXPythonScript: do_something() DTMLMethod:test The XXXPythonScript, do_something tries to call get_categories like this... dbresults = context.get_categories(item_id=4) results = [ ] For I in dbresults: results.append(i.category_id) return results But it always says it can't find get_categories. I thought it would just look back up the tree and find it.. Alternatively, if I move do_something into the Delia folder and call it with DTMLMethod test like this... <dtml-in "do_something(item_id=4)"> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> ... I get Error Type: NameError Error Value: do_something How does a Python Script call a ZSQLMethod that is higher in the hierarchy (or maybe in the same folder)?
