Getting the object from a path in a python script

Hello, I am trying to get hold of an object in a fs python script. The only thing I have to reference this object is the absolute url for the object. I have tried with restrictedTraverse and self.restrictedTraverse but keeps getting an error. Anyone who knows how to do this ? Regards, Gitte Wange

You could try to use wget from the cygwin tools (Www.cygwin.org) Install on your IIS server, then use 'scheduled tasks' or the AT service to run wget periodically and have the files deposited in the IIS wwwroot directory. I think I recall a zope tool that can do this also, but the name escapes me... Are you using the zope start script (presumably in /usr/local/zope/2-1-2) unmodified? "Out of the box" that script enables debugging, with the -D switch. That leaves the console attached, which will cause problems like you describe. Take off that switch, or set the logging environment variable STUPID_LOG_FILE in the script 'start,' with something like 'STUPID_LOG_FILE="$PYTHONHOME/var/<whatever-you-want-to-call-the-logfile>" export STUPID_LOG_FILE' The latter will direct debugging messages to the logfile instead of the console, allowing the console to be detached. NameError instantiating ZClass instance, but it used to work!

Running Zope 2.3.3 on RH Linux 7.1 I created a Product with 3 Zclasses. 2 of the 3 Zclasses work okay, but one of them raises a NameError during the add process saying that it can't find the ZClass itself, even though the darn thing is listed in the Product folder. (Also, Monitor Client shows it's there too, see below) >From ZMI, selecting Add "Searchable Company", then entering the ID results in the traceback. I'm totally stumped trying to fix this, anyone have any ideas how to figure this out? I tried exporting to XML and re-importing the Product (after deleting it) but the XML import process raises an Exception (not enough args passed). I tried export/reimport in .zexp format, but the results are the same. This is a standard ZClass that is based on ZObject, _ZClass_for_PortalFolder, _ZClass_for_DefaultDublinCoreImpl. (and 1 other Zclass in this product has the same base classes) It *used* to work, but today I find that I can't create any more instances. Are you suggesting that Zope be served through inetd (or, really, one of it's replacements)? That is interesting... Another thing - Squid runs great on Solaris, according to some things I have heard, but you would absolutely need to tweak TCP connection buffers and a few other settings. Solaris 7/8, by default, is tuned to be a workstation, not a highly saturated server. Linux 2.4, on the other hand, should run a proxy well without tuning - provided you turn off TCP_ECN. ;) This is why our Squid proxies are Linux on Sun hardware... Is this a feature or a bug ?

Hello, I am using Zope 2.3.3. I have coded a python class inheriting from ObjectManager (and others, as explained in the ZDG). Is this a feature or a Zope bug that instances of that class _cannot_ contain other instances of the _same_ class, just like a Zope Folder obect can contain other Folder objects? I have also tried by inheriting from the Folder class instead of ObjectManager. It does not solve the problem. Note the objects are created but not where expected, instead they are created in the first object in the url being a Folder object. This is a strange behavior, isn't it?
