Hi... Well, effectively, that will probably work fine. But my problem is that I may have several folders like "/dsi" (or even subfolders of /dsi), each of them requiring use of the /news folder methods (/news is a folder handling every methods relatives to news, and so each folder can use these methods to display and handle several news relatives to each subject). So, I ABSOLUTELY don't want to duplicate my news handling methods in every folder that have to display news...!! Any idea ?? Is there any way to say in the /news/content_html method : I want to call the "get_last_news" object which is in "my" folder, and not anywhere else, without worrying of the place from which this method was called ?? [Q] start with root versus start rc.d/init.d

I'm still unable to get Zope to start by itself using RedHat 7.1 and scripts in /etc/rc.d/init.d. When one executes a script from the command line, it works, but when one lets the system execute the same script during boot, it fails. Can someone help me? I'm at a loss. Any suggestions would be great. this is where zope excels, imho. you can get the news done using dtml documents only, or use zclass, or make your own zope product. squishdot may be used to publish news. even cmf if you're brave (:)) there are available products to help you manage events. hth

Hi, another little problem I encounter while discovering Zope. I want to have such folders and objects : /dsi content_html (DTML Method) /news content_html (DTML Method) get_last_news (Z SQL Method) The "/news/content_html" method is using the "get_last_news" SQL method, in a <dtml-in get_last_news>...</dtml-in> loop. add content via ZMI or custom form?

Could someone discuss this point: when should I allow a user (say with a Writer-role) to add content to the site 1) via the ZMI, choosing Add DTML document and such like 2) via a custom made form, using submit (or upload) Is the main difference that for 1) one needs more HTML knowledge? Deleting a DataSkin propertysheet?

Hi all I have code like this:: for user in users: if getattr(user.propertysheets, 'CommonProperties', None): user.propertysheets.manage_delPropertySheet('CommonProperties') user_ids.append(user.id) It doesn't look as if the 'manage_delPropertySheet' call is doing anything. The propertysheet 'CommonProperties' is:: DataSkin Attribute Property Sheet at /Control_Panel/Products/FekoWeb/FekoUser/propertysheets/common/CommonProper ties When the code executes, 'user_ids' is a list of all users who had 'CommonProperties'. However, 'CommonProperties' is not deleted. I can run the script over and over, and keep getting the same list in 'user_ids'. No errors are raised, and I have Manager and Owner roles with all permissions. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong? Regards, Jean

All: First is zope a good idea to use for this and if so how should I proceed. What I'm looking to do is make a dynamic site that allows personnel to create news items, web pages, events, and such that will automatically show on the site based on certain criteria. The criteria being a start and end date, priority of 1-5, 1 being must be seen first, 5 being show last. I've be doing this with PHP, however we'd like to move to zope as we feel this is a better option. If zope is a go how or would we be a good starting point. Any suggestions would be great. Problems with Zope restarting

Hi, i had an error when i wanted to restart Zope. It happened after installing the next debian packages: zope-loginmanager 0.8.8b1-1 (testing) zope-zpatterns 0.4.3b1-1 (unstable) This last package is needed by the first one to work properly. I have a Debian/woody and Zope 2.3.3. When i wrote /etc/init.d/zope restart, i got the following message: "Zope is currently restarting (or something's very strange)" Anyone knows the reason?
