Moving a Zope Installation

I am trying to move a Zope installation from one server to another. I am keeping the location the same on both servers so paths should not be an issue. I cannot find anyplace that specified a servername, yet I cannot get it to work. When I visit servername:8080 I get a very useless "Not Found" page. I copied over the ZopeInstallation directory from the old server to the new one. I am connecting locally to a ZEO server for the data.fs. I also tried to create a new data.fs, in case there was something messed up with that that was causing it not to work. This also didn't fix the problem. I also noticed that accessing it through the webdav port appears to be working, suggesting even more that there is nothing wrong with data.fs. I don't have any errors reported in the logs. I don't really have any idea what I could have missed. I also don't really know what else to look into :) I am hoping someone on the list has moved Zope between boxes, and knows something I would have missed...Any input would be appreciated. There is a patch for Apache which leads it, when acting as a Proxy, to forward the incoming request information it is seeing in an HTTP VIA header (See RFC2616) which it adds to the request. There is info about this patch at http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl but I've not yet used it myself. Using this makes things a bit messy, which is why I'm not going with it yet, as you would have to look in REMOTE_ADDR and if that contained your Proxy Apache's IP number then test against the VIA header. The problem is that this HTTP header was not intended for forwarding information about the originating client but for adding information about intermediate proxies and gateways that have handled the incoming request. Depending on how the patch is implemented, i.e. does it add information to any pre-existing VIA header or replace it, the header could contain information about other intermediate Proxies. Probably the best you can do is determine that the request originated outside your domain rather than getting an absolute determination of the ultimate client's IP number. Bear in mind that if the incoming request came through another proxy server your Apache Proxy would see the request as coming from that other proxy's IP number and have no way of determining the ultimate origin of the request. Configure PUTs in Zope

Hi, How can I configure Zope (or a Zope script) so that, when I put a file (via FTP or HTTP) in a Zope folder, the corresponding object will be created as, for example, an ExtFile instead of a standard File ?? Thanks for any answer... Thierry

Detecting dropped client connection?

Hi. I have a method that generates a large database report (around 4MB). It takes around 5 minutes to generate, but I can happily stream it to the client using RESPONSE.write(). What I have noticed, however, is that if the client drops the connection, my method just keeps processing oblivious wasting ram, cycles but most importantly a Zope thread. Is there a call I can make for my code to check if the connection is still valid, allowing it to die if nothing is listening to it? -- Stuart Bishop <zen(a)shangri-la.dropbear.id.au>

Z SQL insert statements running twice?

The form method is 'put'. This is just one example, the same problem occurs with all SQL insert statements on all other pages. It also happens when called from Python scripts. (I prefer to use Python scripts to make data validation easier.) Running the SQL statement in test mode gives the expected results, however, running the command from within the dtml method causes a double entry into the database. On my site I'm using the site layout method described in http://www.zope.org/Members/march/howtos/OnlyOneIndexHtml. I'm using Zope v2.3.3, Python 1.5.2 and MySQL 3.23.31 on a Mandrake 7.2 box. manage_changeProperties from Python, using ZClass instance located through ZCatalog

m_id is tokens type property inside "data" propertysheet in a ZClass. This Python Script works fine when called on the ZClass. It changes the value of m_id property. new_m_id=[777,888,999] context.propertysheets.data.manage_changeProperties(m_id=new_m_id) However, the following script does not change the value of m_id property. It runs as if everything is ok. It finds correct instance using "title", the x[0].m_id and x[0].title show correct values, but the "line x[0].manage_changeProperties(m_id=new_m_id)" has no effect whatsoever. x=context.Catalog_Org(title="aaa") print x[0].m_id print x[0].title new_m_id=[999,888,777] x[0].manage_changeProperties(m_id=new_m_id) print x[0].m_id I tried to call "x[0].propertysheets.data.manage_changeProperties(m_id=new_m_id)", but it fails with Error Type: AttributeError, Error Value: data -- Milos Prudek
