Client Text Editor that Sends HTTP PUT statements

Has anyone thought of using/modifying a text editor (or word processor!) to send HTTP request statements? The idea is for the user to download a form using the word processor's "fields" capabilities to accept what would normally go into an HTML <form>. Then the user could user their normal word processor (with all its text editing features and capabilities) to load in the text. Then a macro button could be pressed to reformulate the document into an HTTP response to the form. Then Zope would see a request, just as it would from a browser. Post-processing in the macro could perform the necessary (?) conversion of the text into HTML, or whatever before the REQUEST is formulated and sent to Zope. This would be particularly good in those situations where you have secretaries and other clerical people who need to put sets of structured or formatted text into Zope properties for storage, display, and retrieval. I know that WebDAV has some of this capability, but that is for WHOLE files. Here, I'm talking about editing certain fields in those objects using a standard word processor. Any thoughts? Has anyone done this before? Ron

Problems with Dreamweaver and WebDAV

Hi all! I've just started using Zope to build an intranet and I want to make the graphic design of it using Macromedia Dreamweaver, connecting to Zope via WebDAV. Everything seems fine (I can see the objects in Zope as files and the folders as directories, I can get and edit any file with Dreamweaver), but if I try to save the file and send it to Zope (using the Put option), I get an error, "Unable to authenticate with WebDAV server". What am I doing wrong? I am using the default port and the administrator's user name and password, do I have to use another port or user? Any help will be welcome. Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

I'm not sure about problems with WebDAV and Dreamweaver, but try to add the object in the Zope management interface, logged in as the same user. I suspect that you will run into a Superuser cannot own Error. If this is the case, add another user with the Manager role and try using Dreamweaver as that user. memory leaks and worms

Greetings, Has anyone had experience with the results of Nimda and CodeRed over zope? I have a suspicion that these worms cause memory leaks on the python process. Although the exploits are designed for MicroSnooze servers, Zope of course tries to parse them anyhow, sometime throwing exceptions at a lower level than the standard_error_page, thus disallowing me to write dtml or python to intercept it. The result, _I_think_ is a memory leak because zope isnt cleaning itself up. navbar - highlighting activated link

SQL-Query result

Greeting, I´m learning Zope/python at the moment. I tried something with databases and it seemed to work. I created a SQL-Method with select name from person where <dtml .... ( it doesn´t matter) and call it with <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user', getuserbyusername(username=username,password=password))"> but now if I make a <dtml-var user> I get an mysteric response. I know I know the GURUS of you will laugh but you know, without trying you can´t learn anything :-)) The call results in: <Shared.DC.ZRDB.Results.Results instance at 8940d00> how can I get the real result. It must be somthing like 'Florian Schuler' my name. I created a little table in PostGreSQL: id | name | vorname | username | password ----+----------------------+----------------------+--------------------- -+---------------------- 0 | Schuler | Florian | flo | ********* (1 row) Thanks in advance Florian

I'm running 2.4.1 on W2K workstation as a service. When creating and uploading images, the content is blank - however if I upload the image as a file, it works fine ? I noticed that the files MIME type was image/pjpeg (progressive jpeg I assume), is the standard image MIME type fixed to another type, causing the browser to miss interpret the stream ? Regards

Formulator advice requested

Hi all I'd like to start using Formulator for forms as much as possible. Now I'm looking for info about programmatic use of Formulator. Is it possible to get Forms out to the filesystem in any way? Or at least to get the code for the creation of the Form onto the filesystem? By Form creation code I mean: enumerate fields, types, names, validators, preferably in a block of Python. Then call an Add method if the Form doesn't exist yet, or manage_changeProperties if it does. Has anyone been doing this, and would you be willing to share code? I've googled the mailing lists but only came up with release announcements. This is a rough cut that works from DTML.
