External Python method not reloaded in 2.4.1

Hi, Zope is started with the -D option. in Zope-2.4.1 external python methods are not reloaded, when they change on the filesystem. how to get rendered conten of a dtml method from python ??

Hi there this fine Sunday evening, I try to create a DTML Method on the fly, pass it some data and would like to get back that data rendered like so: context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addDTMLMethod(id='tmp2', title='') obj = context['tmp2'] obj.manage_edit(data, '') data = obj(_, context.REQUEST) now my question: what do I have to pass in the call obj(....) I would like to have it rendered (for instance) <dtml-var absolute_url> thanks for your insights Robert

argh - CoreSessionTracking

Hi all :) I'm having some problems with CoreSessionTracking. The errors are occurring on some pretty simple DTML code and they seem to be caused by a failure to find the getSessionData() method :S Here's the code that's getting an error: <dtml-call "session.getSessionData().set('Type','Professional')"> I've tried splitting this up into three seperate calls like so: <dtml-let ses="session"> <dtml-let sesdata="ses.getSessionData()"> <dtml-call "sesdata.set('Type', 'Professional')"> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> The error occurs on the call to getSessionData() and I can't work out why. The same code works in a seperate area of my site, using a different session data manager (with a different name) and a different session ID manager. Is this likely to be an acquisition problem? The object 'session' is in the folder directly above this folder. I have checked and double checked the security settings of various objects but I'm not totally certain they're correct. I get an error when I try to change the security settings of the 'access session data' permission in the session data manager. Is that normal? I hope somebody can shed some light on this; thanks for your time! :) Oh yes, and here's the traceback:  Harry

Weird problem with ZDebug

I'm currently running Zope 2.3.3 on a Debian potato system (ia32), using the default Python 1.5.2 install from Debian potato. I've built the Zope system by hand and had no problems. Apache sits in front of the Zope system using the normal rewrite rules for Zope. The problem I'm running into is that I can't seem to get ZDebug (version 0.2.1) to do ... well, anything useful. I'm using 0.2.1 because 0.3 only works with Zope 2.4 and above. The test_html DTML document is as follows: --- begin --- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var blah> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> --- end --- The property "blah" does not exist in an attempt to cause an exception. Instead of getting the ZDebug page that I expect, I instead get the standard_error_message page along with this traceback:  Ok, this works fine at my employers - however, at work I have python 2.x (2.0, if memory serves me) and Zope 2.3.3. Do I need to upgrade my potato system to python 2.0? Any help appreciated. Andrew -- Andrew J. Zope lockups using an External Method

Hi all, I've been learning Zope for a while but I'm now so completely stuck that I thought it would be a good time to join the mailing list :-) My platform is Debian GNU/Linux unstable x86 running the 2.4.9 kernel. w/Zope 2.3.3 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Running a particular External Method (clicking on the DTML Document and then clicking the View tab) leads to Zope locking up and the computer system going very sluggish. A reboot fixes everything. I can rewrite the script so it runs separately from the command line. However once it is called as an external method it misbehaves. The specifics: I execute this DTML Document: <dtml-var "Doc2PDF(Karl_Le_Quesne)"> (Karl_Le_Quesne is the id of the Word Document in the Zope Database. For some reason I need to remove the .doc extension. It seems that objects can't have a full stop in them?) Which calls this External Method: def Doc2PDF(self, inputdoc): import os import tempfile import sys import random import StringIO #For some reason this stopped working below #And now returns "None" #temp_path=tempfile.tempdir temp_path='/var/tmp' random_dir=str(random.randrange(100000000,999999999)) full_dir=temp_path+'/'+random_dir os.chdir(temp_path) os.mkdir(random_dir) os.chdir(full_dir) #Put the file onto the hard disk thefile=open('aaa123','w') thefile.write(inputdoc.data) thefile.close # Run wvPDF on the document os.system('wvPDF aaa123 aaa123.pdf') return aaa123 is a word document. Can anyone see what has gone wrong? Note that the External Method properties are id = Module Name = Function Name = Doc2PDF Before the external command wvPDF is run I can confirm that the word document (named aaa123) is sitting in the directory /var/tmp/xxxxxxxxx/. accessing objects in pdb

I want to access an object directly in pdb so I can experiment with API calls on it. I am familiar with the process of using pdb and calling ZPublisher.Zope(path), but I don't want the HTML on the object, I want the object itself. I realize I could achieve this using break points, but I want to know if there's a convenient call similar to ZPublisher.Zope to just get my hands on the object.

Tom p.s This leads onto the recurring question (for me at least) of there not being a way (in the standard_error_message) to fully browse the namespaces (and their contents) at error time. WebDrive, ZPT and Zope

Hello, Has anyone had experience with using WebDrive, I just got a copy and it seems to be working fine until I tried to upload some ZPT files, the files do transfer, BUT they are not being recognised as ZPT and are just added as DTML Document. Is there a way to overide this? Well, I found what _might_ be a complete list of dtml-var builtins, but the page refers to itself as rapidly becoming obsolete, so I'm not sure. This document: http://www.zope.org/Members/ZQR Appears to be a couple of years old and describes itself as "aging" but is it still valuable or valid? If this isn't the best source?
