Calling DTMLFile from an external method

Hi, I am trying to make an external-method from an Zope-2.1.4 version work under 2.4.3. But _prefix=Common.package_home(_prefix) is executed. What's wrong here ? Python Base Classes, ZObjectManager, and Subobjects

I'm transitioning a product from pure ZClasses to a hybrid product python base classes and ZClasses. So this is my first time working with python products. I'm trying to setup a python base class to provide a central place to subclass ZObjectManager and CatalogAware that I can rebase later without the ZClass hassle. But when I try to create a ZClass in the product and subclass to one of my python base classes, I don't get the subobjects tab in my ZClass. Clearly I'm missing somthing basic here, but I have scoured the docs and mailing lists for a clue before coming here. BTW, I did find this post earlier that no one seemed to reply to, and below that are my actual python files. ---quoted message--- I want to create a Python base class that inherits from the ObjectManager and has the "Subobjects" tab in the ZClass management screen. Re-read the post -- the dll's my own make. All it does is pull a set of rows from a database for use in a calculation, returning the results of the calculation. ---------- Keith J. Can't believe I sent an HTML email, sorry about that. I was wondering if there was a simple hook into ObjecManager or something like this that lets me know when an item in the container has been altered. At present I have to actively mine the container for changes to bobobase modification times of the objects it contains. I have wrapped a small product around Folder.Folder to allow me to do this, but would like to find a hook that lets me know when the modification time of a contained object has changed. Matt

A python script is attempting to add a DTML Document to a folder. The folder has a property called "select_keywords" which, as the name implies, is a list of keywords for the user. A form is in the folder to allow the user to add informaiton. In the form is a list of the keywords from the select_keywords property of the form (the parameter is called 'user_keywords'). The user can then select the appropriate keywords and press the Submit button. The python script then creates a new DTML Document object and then attempts to add a multiple selection property to the new DTML Document object. In doing so, the object is created, but there is no link to the newly created multiple select property (called my_keywords) and the select_keywords property. The code... my_obj = getattr(context, id) my_obj.manageAddProperty('my_keywords', user_keywords, 'multiple selection', select_keywords) ... runs correctly, but the link between my_keywords and select_keywords is nott established, so Zope cannot use that field. Well, it does, but the base ref can be used for other uses too, inside zope. I'm quite sure that it would be just as simpl to set the link to the image with an absolute path instead, and actually having the base reference pointing to the document. At least this has no secondary effects. That's quite true, of course smacking everything with a base href like I mentioned also can take away from some of the very reasons that folks use Zope, too. I think I also suffer from "old habits die hard" syndrome, from working on static pages so long. Thanks for the clarification, though. Jeff
