Simple (I hope) question re: images

Hi all, I have what I suspect is a very simple question regarding images, but I've had a look through the list archives and also through the Zope book and can't track down an answer. This is a site which is being virtually hosted; Apache and Zope both running on the same box and Apache rewriting URLs to pass them to Zope. I want to keep images in a folder of their own on a Zope site that I am creating - not too unusual - and currently I'm referencing them from other folders as dtml-var "images.example_gif" (angle brackets removed to avoid confusing mail programs, browsers etc.) This gives me the right image, but the source code produced is wrong; it gives http://host.with.zope:8080/virtual.host.name/images/example.gif whereas what I'd rather have it produce would be /images/example.gif or, at a pinch, http://virtual.host.name/images/example.gif Am I missing something blatantly obvious here, or can someone suggest a workaround for this? import problems

Hi! I have problems importing a file in Zope-2.5.0b3 (openbsd 3.0) I exportet from linux (same zope version and Products). 2002-01-29T10:11:38 PROBLEM(100) Script (Python) Object "simple_tree" needs to be recompiled. ------ 2002-01-29T10:11:41 PROBLEM(100) Script (Python) Object "image_batches_error" needs to be recompiled. An import of the same file with the linux-zope is no problem. Can someone please give me a hint? tia Jens-Erik

I understood that python 2.1.2 is included into the bin distribution for linux... Am I wrong? Source code for the extension is at http://www.thuban.org/projects (see AstroMath). As suggested, I set up a couple threading/non-threading tests outside of Zope. Here are the results, and the sourcecode for the scripts. My guess now is that it's a Python error, or something that I don't know about how C-extensions behave under Python threads. AstroMathTest.py -- threaded, import outside of the thread run() method AstroMathTest-2.py -- threaded, import inside the thread run() method AstroMathTest-3.py -- unthreaded, import outside of the class AstroMathTest.py triggers an abnormal termination (when running under Zope, this crashes the server). stupid question.

Hi, I just installed zope on my win98 machine at home just to see what it is capable of. It says that there is a built-in web server. How do i start that server? I tried everything and it didn't work. Also i couldn't find any manual on how to do this with win32. Another question: does this built-in server allowes to use PHP and Perl? Another question: i have apache running on same machine at home. How to configure apache to work with zope?

Clever solution wanted

Hello, I have the following problem: The web pages of our institute has a menu frame (please don't throw anything at me about the frames - I do not like it but now I have to cope with it) with links. Those links have the following structure: <a href="URL1"> target="target-frame1">text1</a><p> <a href="URL2"> target="target-frame2">text2</a><p> <a href="URL3"> target="target-frame3">text3</a><p> ... Because there are many different web editors they sometimes use <br> instead of <p> or do some other nasty formating. This is all done in plain HTML and I slowly want to move the stuff to Zope. I'd like like to provide a general dtml document which no editor has to care about. I'm now searching for a method where the different editors of those menu links just have to care for the content like editing a simple table: "URL1" "target-frame1" "test1" "URL2" "target-frame2" "test2" "URL3" "target-frame3" "test3" This table should be read into the dtml document and should be displayed there in a loop) to get equal layout. In the end of the mail I append my first approach to it but I feel that this is really not the best way to go. I'm looking for a more clever solution than I could imagine (as a quite beginner in Zope). Kind regards Andreas. Performance of missing dtml-vars

I just noticed that where I was building a form to update a row in the database it could build the form in under 10 seconds. To build the same form to insert a row would take very close to a minute. The same DTML method is used for inserts and updates, the difference being that when doing an update all of the field values are in variables from the SQL method, and for an insert I was just calling the method without initialising anything and relying on <dtml-var missing=""> to set things blank to begin with e.g. lots of: <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="FIELD_1" VALUE="<dtml-var FIELD_1 null="" missing="">"> <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="FIELD_2" VALUE="<dtml-var FIELD_2 null="" missing="">"> .......
