pcgi or fastcgi with siteroot possible ?

Hi, ist it possible to use the siteroot product with fastcgi or pcgi ? If yes how do the rewrite rules for apache look like ? All HowTos seam to use the proxy aproach. PollTag problem: is there an update?

I'm using the PollTag Product that gives you the <dtml-poll> tag. This is with Zope 2.4.3. Unfortunately, it won't let anonymous users submit new polls. My manager account DOES work. I think it's a code issue, because (a) I gave anonymous every permission that manager has, and it still failed. (b) In the code, it seems to look for an "Add Poll" permission, which does NOT show up under my 'Security' tab. I can get the form to type in the question, but when I click the submit button, it gives me the Basic Auth prompt. Any help would be appreciated. --Derek

Hi, I'm looking around for Python-Code or Zope-Product which uses OpenOffice as a generator for Charts. The idea is to generate XML-OpenOffice-Code via Zope, transfer the dynamic document into OpenOffice and save it as HTML with JPGs. The JPGs should then be served via Zope as a chart-picture. Or the OpenOffice document could be converted into a MSOffice Document and downloaded via Zope. Regards, Dirk

can I "print" REQUEST.form?

I have a REQUEST object. <dtml-var REQUEST> in a document gives the contents fine. In the REQUEST "printout" there is a form part. How can I see the form only? I tried: <dtml-var REQUEST.form> but I get a KeyError. TIA, Panos Hilaris

It "knows" that the ZCatalog path may contain characters illegal in URL (such as space) and therefore url_quotes the result. This is unfortunate for your case. May might use a "Direct Traversal" (--> ZSQL advanced feature) or "Python Script Traversal Subpath" approach to work around the problem. In both cases, you would replace the query string by path components. Dieter

I am cataloging mysql-data with zcatalog following the how-to provided by zope-member rbicker. this works fine. since I use batch-processing to build web pages containing e.g. 3 mysql data records per page, the uid's, hence the url's of the zcatalog's objects are e.g.: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro?start=4 this url, I build dynamically from a python script, which catalogs the mysql data: for chapter in container.search_mms(): container.catalog_object(chapter,'/base/select_mm_url/' + chapter.mm_id + '/show_intro?start=' + chapter.mms_id) [works fine ...] in the search results' page I use the following code to link to the results: <A HREF="&dtml.-getURL;">link</a> unfortunately, the link on the web page turns out like this: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro%3fstart%3d4 what is my mistake? I was believing I would have to turn off the automatic url-quoting using the entity reference '&dtml ....;' by putting the '.' after '&dtml'. but it seems, this doesn't work with 'getURL'. if so, what other possibilities do I have to "get" the results' "url"? thanks for any hint. lambert

_setOb() is in BTreeFolder; It is just a few lines of code to traverse BTreeFolder._tree. _setObject() is inherited from the ObjectManager mixin class; this means that it does through some bureaucracy that makes it slower, but safer and more secure. If you use _setOb(), they don't appear in manage_main UI, but they are there in the folder (well, in the _tree attribute, but this equates to the same thing)... This is because doing this seems to not correctly work with methods like objectValues() and objectIds()... I never investigated why this is, because for my application of this, I never cared, because with 6 figure object counts, I didn't want to display a list of them in the UI anyway. At least in _setObject(), BTreeFolder hits a wall above around 10,000 objects that slows it down a lot. This is due to all the ObjectManager machinery in Zope that does stuff like check security, etc. There are ways to access the underlying objects contained in the folder's tree, but this is unsafe from a security perspective, so if you choose to do this, you should know what you are doing (you use _getOb() and _setOb() from within a Python Product, so you should be familiar with creating a Python Product deriving a subclass from BTreeFolder, and insulate all calls to this in your own "security" checks and careful coding). This does yield much better speed, though, in both setting and getting an object. A bigger box would definitely help, too. With that little memory, it also might not hurt to apply some patches from CVS that implement new indexes for FileStorage that decrease the per-object storage index overhead (seach the ZODB-dev list for more info), or upgrade your RAM, since that is a relatively cheap fix. Hi there, I have a directory object where different users can add/store DTML Documents to it. I want to display only the files that belong to each user. If I log into the system as Jesus and go to that directory, i want to see only the files i created as myself. Thank you very much in advance. Jesus
