Just in time for the holidays, Zope 2.5 beta 3 has been released. Get it quick while there is still time to put it under the tree! :) You can download Zope 2.5 beta 3 from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.0b3/ The 2.5 beta 3 release contains fixes for a potential hanging situation in ZServer, as well as updates to resolve segfaults that could happen in certain situations. While most of the problem was in the way that Python Script objects were being compiled, note that there is also a known issue in Python 2.1 itself that can cause a segfault in certain situations. As a result, binary releases of 2.5 beta 3 bundle the latest Python 2.1 maintenance fixes from CVS. The Zope 2.5.0 final release is expected to bundle the Python 2.1.2 final release, expected soon. If you are compiling your own Zope from the source distribution, you should be sure to build and run it with Python 2.1.2 when it comes out. In the meantime, we advise that you build and run Zope with the Python 2.1 maintenance branch from the Python public CVS to ensure that you have all of the latest fixes. ZSyncer bidirectional ?

hi to all the ZSyncer user out there, ZSyncer is quite a fine Product, but i'm missing bidirectional syncing, i.e. being able to do an update of remote objects as well as local ones from one ZSyncer instance. The current state is, if i am right, only one way syncing. Example: if there is an object on your remote Zope and it is missing on your local Zope, you can only delete the object on the remote server but not copy it to your local Zope. I suppose this has to do with the 1-to-n (development-production) syncing architecture. If no one can explain or has a suggestion, i'll try to modify ZSyncer by my self. Andreas Hölzl

damn sophisticated mysql security

Hello, MySQL is so damn secure I can't access my own database!!! .. but only if I try to connect to the MySQL-Server on the same host like the Zope-server; I get: Error Type: OperationalError Error Value: (1045, "Access denied for user: 'hsql@localhost' (Using password: YES)") I can connect to a MySQL-Server on a remote machine without problems. Let's see if I understood what you have to do if you want to connect to the Database "MyDataBase", being the user "MyUser" on the local machine with the IP "195.196.197.198" using the password "MyPassWord": 1. become root 2. mysql 3. create database MyDataBase; 4. use mysql 5. insert into db values ('195.196.197.198','MyUser','MyPassWord','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y'); 6. insert into user values('195.196.197.198','MyUser',PASSWORD('MyPassWord'),'Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y','Y'); 7. flush privileges; (or even restart MySQL or even reboot the computer) 8. then (in Zope) add a ZMySQLDatabaseConnection with the connection string "MyDataBase MyUser MyPassWord", deliberately omitting the host Any easier way? The easiest way? What I'd like best would be to disable the whole MySQL-security-stuff so I can start to work at last. I can care for security later. designing Python Scripts

Dear ZoPeople, What is the normal way to handle complex logic in a PythonScript. I have a piece of code that is sufficiently complex, that it makes sense to have a number of classes and methods for it, but Zope doesn't seem to like the use of classes inside PythonScripts. Would one simply use External Scripts for this, or is there a a more "standard" way, such as fiddling with the access controls? verifying existence

Hi Zopes, How can I check the existence on an image file in my image folder. Breadcrumbs with Squishdot

Hello all, I'm trying to use breadcrumbs in my site, and all seems to work fine, except for the Squishdot part. Here's what I have setup so far. I have put the following code in my standard_html_header (which is in the root of my zope tree) to show the breadcrumbs: <dtml-in PARENTS reverse> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-unless sequence-end>»</dtml-unless> </dtml-in> In the root of my Zope tree, I also have a instance of squishdot, called news, that inherits the standard_html_header from the root of the tree. Strangely enough, wherever I am in the squishdot site, it doesn't take the title of the item I'm looking at (such as the title of a news item), but it always takes the title of the squishdot instance itself. Does anyone know how we can fix this? Thanks, Pieter
