Hi, again me with Zope 2.6.0b1, plone beta1 and all the i18n-stuff. A tip about 2GB Data.fs issues

Running zope 2.5.1 with python 2.1.3, Data.fs was getting big so I needed to recompile python with large file support. Found some directions somewhere with C compiler flags, rebuilt python, installed it, opened a python prompt and tried first opening and then creaging some big files (like 2.5 GB) and everything works. So I'm good to go -- right? Wrong. And I hope I can prevent someone from making the same mistake. Today my Data.fs grew over 2 GB for the first time and I noticed that writes were failing. Restarted ZEO and it failed - corrupt database!!! ugh. To make a long story short, I discovered taht *some* file operations (open, write) work fine but some (truncate, probably others) do not. What the hell? Well, I discovered the Lib/test/test_largefile.py script in the python source and it was failing. telling me i didn't have largefile support. wierd. so I looked up the largefile support instructions again (in python docs for teh posix module) and did it again- but this time I did "make clean". Which I think I forgot before. Whoops. Now everything works. I managed to get zope back up after truncating the file at 2 GB exactly (where the corruption started). hello, again a newbie question : After creating a Page Template, I go in security options and put Manage Properties ON for all roles (Anonymous, ...) in da page I put a line : Manage Properties here : If I display the page when login as a Manager the result is : Manage Properties here : 1 that's OK. But when displaying the page with a anonymous connection I get result : Manage Properties here : None Why ? Because, I repeat that I change security option to add Manage Properties for Anonymous and all other roles. Thanks, Cyrille

Hi all, I have [standard bulk of Zope 2.5.1 on Win32] problem with file update, delete or create (and directory deleting/creating too) If file/folder-names in traverse are identical, like that: folder1 folder1 * file1 folder1 * file1 * All objects marked with "*" has these problems. >From ZMI I have no problems with that names. My question about this is: at what point is Zope going to be able to work with Python 2.2.x? Sure, you could use something itemValues() to get a list of items in a folder, then some combination of: propertyItems(): Return a list of (id, property) tuples. propertyIds(): Returns a list of property ids. getProperty(id, d=None): Get the property id, returning the optional second argument or None if no such property is found. to put the properties into a dictionary for each item in the folder. Sure. Add Zcatalog, select appropriate fields (blow out principia*, you do not need for that) and make search interface.Do not forget define both Indexes nad Metadata. But where I can define filename field as Andreas reccomend? Or you could use path index: Path Indexes index the physical path of a sequence of objects. A Path Index will return all objects that match a partital path specified in a search query.
