Hi, I wanted to know that if I have a dictionary that might possibly be a dict of dicts, is it possible to construct a tree using dtml-tree and the dictionary?? I am trying to suss out Zope and following the 'Book'. I have entered the following as a python script: "calculate compound interest """" i= interest_rate / periods n= periods * years return ((1+i)**n) * principal" and get 'syntax error'. More precisely:" SyntaxError: invalid syntax" I think I am copying them book - what is wrong? Thanks Dapo

REQUEST var and links in page

Hi, I have a DTML doc at the top of which I set a REQUEST var: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('x',y)"> Now in the page I have a set of links that O generate via a PyScript of the form http://site:8080/page?a=b&c=d Now if I do a <dtml-var REQUEST> in page I dont see the request variable I set at the top of the page namely 'x'. I thought REQUEST variables were propogated when one followed links (as against typing the URL in the location bar). Is the presence of a query string screwing things up here?? PYTHON: Searching for an object inside a folder

Hi! I need to check, inside a Python script, if an object with a particular ID exists inside a folder. Right now I'm using the following code: # this is the folder I want to search myFolder = container.REQUEST.PARENTS[0].img_folder # search the folder for an object with ID <object_id> obj = getattr(myFolder, object_id, None) if obj is not None: # there is no such object else: # there is an object with that id Is there a more efficient way to perform this operation? kind regards, Vitor Varalonga

Zope: ExternalFile: ??

Hello ZopeU, If I create a externalFile object which is targted at ./somedir/file.pdf then view it then go back and delete the file on the filesystem and rename newfile.pdf to file.pdf and then go back and view it but I still see the "old" file. Why don't I see the newfile??? (Note: it seems to work ok with txt files...) Any suggestions... ( perhaps zip pdf files... ) -jj __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? further adventures with "Not found"

When accessing the Zope server from lynx, I get a 404 message followed by the same "Not Found" message I talked about earlier. As has been made abundantly clear I am very much a Zope neophyte, but it looks like to me my user has deleted something that maybe he shouldn't have and he doesn't remember it. I can't really think of any other explanation. jf

My friendly user for which I've been toiling just sent me the following URL: http://www.zope.org/Members/itamar/CorruptedZODB . He seems to think that it's possible the DB has gotten corrupted. Since there's nothing mission critical on our Zope instance (yet, anyway), I'm probably going to give a DB recover a try and see if anything interesting happens. jf

You made reference to some odd port number earlier. This output says port 8080, the Zope default. Are you trying to connect to 8080? If you need Zope on a different port than 8080, pass -wXX to z2.py in the start script where XX is the preferred port number. I should have made this clearer, but -- yes, Zope is still running. Geez, I wish it were as simple as that.
