Hi I have been using zope for the past 2 motnhs and also managed to install zope newly on another machine recently. But now Zope is not starting. When I try to start Zope it gives me the following error:- 2002-10-17T09:04:43 INFO(0) ZServer FTP server started at Thu Oct 17 14:34:43 2002 Hostname: apollo.stylus.local Port: 8021 ------ 2002-10-17T09:04:43 ERROR(200) ZServer Cannot write PID file. ------ 2002-10-17T09:04:43 PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception Traceback (innermost last): File /Users/zope/Zope-2.5.1/z2.py, line 618, in ? File /Users/zope/Zope-2.5.1/ZServer/PCGIServer.py, line 275, in __init__ File /Users/zope/Zope-2.5.1/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py, line 306, in bind error: (2, 'No such file or directory') But I am able to start Zope From outside the Zope Folder by using the -zstart -command What exactly is the zstart doing and how is it starting zope? As I have not started zope with the -start -command i do not know how to stop the server as the -stop -command is not working outside the Zope Folder Can someone please help me out? Sybase DAv2 - loses connection & crashes zope

Hi, I'm having problems with the Sybase DA, hoping that you might be able to help: Zope in pcgi mode --- Repeatedly refreshing a web page that queries a database crashes zope. Zope started in single threaded mode (no -p flag) --- The database connection is lost, time to lose connection varies between 1 minute and a couple hours. I've temporarily solved the problem by writing a python script that downloads a query web page every minute. Here's the error Zope displays: Error Type: Database Error Error Value: SelectActiveKiosks is not connected to a database (SelectActiveKiosks is a Z SQL Method.) Also, once the connection is lost, editing the connection and clicking the "Open Connection" button produces the following error: Invalid connection string: database: ZopeStats, password: ********, server: SYBASE, transactional: Y, user: sa Restarting zope fixes all this?? POSKeyerror

Hi, I try to re-index my zope'site. When cataloging I have this following error. So, I read the zope'list about this error. I have run fsrecover on my Data.fs, but it tolds me OK, nothing is damages and nothing change in recopy. Ok, strange, but I have this error. Site Root bug

Hello I'm using Site Root to help host Zope behind apache. accessing pluggable brains in python script

Hi everyone. If I map a ZSQL query to a brains class and I call this query from inside my python script, can I still treat the result as a brains class? I tried to do it but it doesn't seem to work. Newbie question

I'm passing a record to a python script to alter the variable names in the record (using the :records function). The script works when I insert the record manually, but when I pass it from dtml I get a 'replace' error. I think it's because the record is not a string so it can't be used with the string.replace method. How do I pass the record as a string? This is driving me nuts, I hope someone can help me. newbie : polling problem

hi all, I m really newbie to this zope thing and have trying to set up a polling engine for my developement portal without much success. I tried using the "Poll" plugin in http://www.zope.org/Members/mega/poll I just couldnt get the object to display in my index_html , with "<dtml-var mypoll>" even though i have created a poll object with an id of "mypoll" in the same directory and have populated the poll object with questions and answers. The strange thing is i can view the poll object when i m in the poll management interface. Did i call the poll object wrongly ? and is there better tools in zope to do this job ? thnks in advance henley

If he started Zope in debug mode (the usual) and did not nohup the start script, and then closed the terminal, zope wil die... A quick look at the process list will tell you whether Zope's running. My guess is the message came from the browser....
