How do I get an owner of an object?

I'm creating some kind of CMF and I need to test if a user is owner of an object, in order to let him edit or not the object. The regular: AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role('Owner', this()) is not working fine since it's based on acquisition: if you own a folder, it presumes you own the things inside it. So I tried owner_info, like zope uses, but an user has to have 'View management screens' to call it. I don't want to give this permission to most of the contributors. Is there an work-arround? Hi, I've been asked to do some more development on a London night clubbing site I wrote a while ago - http://www.belugablues.com It was the first site I wrote in PHP (using Java before until I saw how much easier PHP was) and so the code is not the best. I might rewrite from scratch, but I'm also considering rewriting it using a framework or CMS as a base and was wondering if any of you good people could advise whether using Zope would be a "good thing" - and if not then any other recommendations welcome. I've been looking through all the ones on http://www.cmsinfo.org and am just getting more confused. I want to find a system I can work with on more than just this one project. I developed a site using PostNuke, but the design of this site is quite tight and wouldn't fit into PN very well - different world. Current Features of the site: * Event management systems so staff can add an event which users of the site can book free guest list places on - a guest list is automatically built so staff can print it off before the event. * General content management system for news, advertising, and page information * Membership system so people can sign up to the site * Email list function so staff can mail the whole list or subsections of the list (i.e.. depending on when their birthday is) * Photo Gallery Requested features: * HTML email (ya boo :) with direct links to book guest list places * Enable for multiple countries & cities * Remove initial login page so people don't have to sign up until they want to book something (as I suggested they did in the first place...) * Expand booking system to include hotels, cars, yachts & apartments. This won't be all online, but simply a form which requests start and end dates for booking the items then the rest is done manually. Hope the list doesn't mind me asking this - I've done as much research as I can without asking. Any advice would be most gratefully appreciated. I'm not afraid to learn new stuff, I just don't want to end up choosing the wrong system!!! Thanks

Formatting numbers with commas

All, I'm working on my first zope project. This seems like something simple to do but I could not find the answers. I want a numeric value with commas for readability. For example, I want to display 1234567.89 as 1,234,567.89 Is there a format mask for this? I tried <dtml-var totAmt fmt="dollars-and-cents"> but this only put the '$' at the beginning. Is there a suitable 'C format string' for this? I have the zope bible but it did not have what I was looking for. Thanks. Mike

IE and HTML pdf's generated on the fly

I have a Zope DHTML document which generates a form in which the user selects what he/she wants to print. The form action (target="_blank") is a python script called print_plan that collects and edits several HTML and DTML and structured text documents and constructs a single legal HTML document. The script then opens a pipe to HTMLDOC, stuffs the document down the pipe anbd sucks back a pdf through the return pipe and hods it as a StringIO entity. Now the script has the pdf in hand and sends it off to the client first setting the HTTP headers. The HTTP headers and content look like: Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Disposition: inline; filename=foo.pdf %PDF-1.3 %âãÏÓ 1 0 obj<</Producer(htmldoc 1.8.22 Copyright 1997-2002 Easy Software Products, All Rights Reserved.)/CreationDate(D:20021010181751+0700)/Title( where I have truncated the pdf file and inserted linebreaks to make it readable, save space, etc. This all works with browsers other than IE and the browsers either display or save the file. IE fails to recognize the pdf as a pdf and activate the reader. Nor does it offer to save the file.... It's been suggested that IE gets the returned content type from the request URL's extension. That would imply that the form would need a name like "printplan.pdf" (not possible). It was also suggested that a possible workaround would be to use a dummy variable as part of the action ( action="printplan?dummy=foo.pdf") in hopes that IE would recognize it as a pdf generator. Does IE really work this way? My web research suggests that IE does not implement "Content-Dispositon" but tries to grok the type by examining the incoming stream. If that's the case, perhaps there is some difference between HTMLDOC generated pdf files and other pdf's, and IE detect it. Whatever, it's frustrating no end. Any help much appreciated.

You don't even need to build most of your application, just assemble software components that arrive over the web for free faster than I can install them.
