Javascript is a client-side system and (sigh) unstable across browsers. You can (and should) do your entire processing in Zope and not use Javascript unless you absolutely must. I would have thought you'd have a couple of ZSQL methods which return a result plus one or two Python scripts (not Javascript!), DTML-methods, or Templates to present the information an you wish. You should be able to select the information you need with an appropriate query.

Hello, Can someone please point me in the right direction, I have the following python script: print '<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">' print '" print "</script>" return printed this connects to two z sql methods, sql_list_region and sql_list_county respectively and the result i get is: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">  </script> Now one of the problems I am having is that I want to be able to for each region_id to be able to list the related counties, so i passed a variable in the sql_list_county ZSQL Method, which is as follows: arguments: region_id:int=0 select county, county_id from county where region_id=region_id but this returns the whole list for the counties, where as i want to be able to itarate for each region_id. also in the above script, how do i return both the county_id and county within the same print statement? thanks in advance norman

javascript redirects in zope

I am trying to do a redirect in javascript by setting the location object to a passed in URL. It doesn't seem to work in Zope and has always worked in JSP or any other HTML file. Is there any zope restriction prohibiting this code to work? Any suggestions for a workaround? My function: (shows the confirm window, but then does not redirect after I answer 'Yes') function confirmDelete(code, url) { var resp = window.confirm("Delete item " + code + "?"); if (resp) { location.href=unescape(url); /** also tried location=unescape(url); and document.location=unescape(url) but didn't work **/ } } Thank you. access a subfolder in python

Hi, I'm trying to create an object in a subfolder of an object. If I use 'self.test._setObject(newUserProperty.id, newUserProperty)' where 'test' is the name of the subfolder it works perfect, but I want to change the name of the folder dynamically. Therefor I need a variable, but if I replace test by a variable (name) I'm getting an Attribute Error. Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: name Any ideas? Zope wack book published by SAMS - anyone got corrected examples?

I bought the "Zope web application construction kit" book published by SAMS and am trying the work through the Myaddress book example in chapter 3. There are mistakes in the code and I have spent a week trying to get this simple site to work. I have got as far as getting the input and search pages working but I can't get the update and delete record pages to work. Has anyone succeeded with this chapter and can they show me what is wrong with the code listed in the book? Alternatively, if anyone has an email address for one of the authors, Brockmann, Kirchner, Luhnsdorf or Pratt, I would like to write to them to ask why they think it is ok to publish a book and not offer users the possibility of reporting problems or getting information on errata. For anyone thinking about buying this book my advice would be --- don't. But if you really want to you can buy my copy at half price. (First three chapters have been thumbed through but the rest of the book is in perfect condition. thanks Patrick

How to use methods from OFS?

Hi! I'm trying to import and use OFS.content_types.guess_content_type(), Zope's method to get content types of files by name or content, in a Python script within Zope. But all I get is an Unauthorized error: "You are not allowed to access content_types in this context" (even Proxy role "Manager" didn't succeed). I guess invoking OFS modules needs special permissions or even External Methods. Is this correct, and can somebody give me a hint/a working example how to achieve this? Thanks a lot! I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG 1.05 FINAL TextIndexNG is a new pluggable index for the ZCatalog and is the most feature complete solution for fulltext inexing under Zope. TextIndexNG enhances the fulltext indexing capabilities of Zope by providing the following features: * support for document converters (HTML, PDF, WinWord, PowerPoint, Postscript). Custom converters can be easily added * stemmer support for 12 languages * optional support for right truncation * similarity search (soundex, metaphone support) (for English) * NEAR search * phrase search * pluggable query parsers (two parsers included) * stop words support * new test tab for interactive testing * faster than Zopes old TextIndex * full unicode support (new) * normalization support (new) * new similarity algorithm: double metaphone (new) * new TXNGSplitter * new vocabulary browser Changes: * added full wildcard support for CLLexicon and StandardLexicon * rewrote Stemmer module (now fully unicode compliant) * unittests code cleanup * query evaluation refactored * Parser API changed to return a parse tree instead of a Python expression * new parse tree evaluator added * PyQueryParser: now accepts a minus sign as prefix of a word to indicate NOT. Searching for "foo -bar" will be recognized as "foo AND NOT bar".
