Hi guys, Yeah the context is gone and it's NOT funny :-) Well I get the famous error: global name 'context' is not defined in a small script that tests for what stylesheet to use ... Searching the archives only reveals and old mail from Dieter saying that it might be caused by an old version of Python. Zope, CMF, WebDAV +Windows' Network Place and versioning.

Greetings! I have been playing with Zope and CMF. Scavenged an old HP Workstation, a B132L with PA-RISC processor, little RAM and a small disk(2.1GB). Got Debian Linux installed, along with debs of Zope, Zope-CMF. (PostgreSQL too, in case I ever figure out how to move my data in there. Hints appreciated.) I now have a test-CMF site running. I have created a few folders and users, uploaded a few files, published and played around. I saw that Zope-CMF supported WebDAV. And I saw the light. My great vision was to create a Windows "Network Place" to read/write to Zope directly from Windows. This way, I envisioned, I could have people use familiar tools to save documents to a familiar environment. While at the same time, we could attach some metadata to the items, and use versioning between files, with full accounting on who edited what file, when, and possibly keeping track of several versions of the SAME FILE, in the SAME PLACE using the SAME Filename. It almost works. I can create "Network Places", save documents to the Zope folders. Only thing missing is the ability to have Zope versioning on files created in this manner. Can it be done? Anyone else tried this approach? Experiences? Good? Bad? Do's and DON'Ts? Tips, tricks? PostgreSQL pointers? KnutM

VHM and RewriteRule Problem

Hi all, I'm quite new to zope, and trying to do a virtual host mapping with apache. I've the Rewrite Module working, and trying to do the following(in the .htaccess- file): RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mydomain.de:80/Chris/mydo main.de [L,P] Also, I tried without the [L,P]. it just shows the directory index of the webserver- not zope. If I try it with /* ... I get the Zope-Site, but with the full path (./VirtualHostBase/http/...) Can anyone help?!? Thanks, Chris

Unenlightened XUF question

OK, so I'm a bit slow... After reading the "Unenlightened" guide, I installed a totally vanilla XUF, using ZODB authorization and properties. I chose cookie authentication. I placed the XUF one level above the folder to protect, which should only be viewed by 'members'. Logging on as a member, I got the ugly, 'basic' popup. Not the cool, docLogin I so covet... I thought I was getting cookies for free. <stupid question> Do I have to 'do something' for this to work? </stupid question> What's missing? Thanks, Ken

Hi, I want to use CookieCrumblers 0.5 with multiple acl_user-folders. Is it neccessary to install multiple CookueCrumblers along all acl_user-folders or is 1 enough. Regards, Dirk

XML via MS COM

I am looking to integrate and existing Windows program with Zope. The program uses COM which accepts XML formatted requests and provides XML formatted responses. I know nothing about using COM and nor do I have any C+ experience. I was hoping that someone could recommend a Zope/Python product that I could configure to talk to application's COM and therefore Zope could be my interface for creating/sending XML requests and parsing the XML response. html_quote problem

Hi everyone, I am retrieving some text from an RDB to display on a page. My problem, a browser error, occurs when there is an apostrophe ['] character in the text returned from the database. My first instinct was to use the html_quote attribute for the var tag, but that does not work for an apostrophe character. Here is an example: text returned from database = "Test' test test" <dtml-var dbText html_quote> This still produces the ' character in the html. Am I missing something? Does html_quote handle this character? Using Zope 2.5.1, MySQL 3.23.51 Thanks, Kevin

That would be a nice option however I occasionally deal in fractions of a day so 31.5416666667 would round up to 32 days and not 31.5 days as I would require. >From what I can gather the Zope DateTime object is derived from the python mxDateTime module. mxDatetime instances appear to have a 'dst' variable which tells you whether DST is active or not.
