setting up standalone server

Zope, I have some questions about setting up a stand alone zope server. How do I bind it to the right IP address. I've got it to accept all requests on port 80 (rather than 8080), but how do i get it to respond to one ethernet card (ie one ip address) and not another? thanks samueljparsons(a)yahoo.co.uk _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Dear Arian, I had exactly the same problem you had in the message you posted in Decembre. I found a workaround which was to use the smtphost= instead of mailhost=, so I guess the security problem is with the mailhost object. Probably best not to have standard_error_message dependent on too many other objects anyway... I have copied this to the list for others to see (perhaps when searching the archives many moons from now)? Hope that's acceptable netiquette... how to enable Large File Support with 2.5 release?

Since zope 2.5 comes with Python, it seems appropriate that an option to enable LFS be provided, eh? I've been digging around and can't figure out where to get this going, since the python.org instructions (section 8.1.1), which are tentative at best anyhow, point to a 'configure' file which isn't present... help!!

problem with python script

I am having a horrible time with a python script. The idea is to get a dollars-and-cents formatted string from the 3.87987234233e-1234 type string that the Sybase server is returning. The python script looks like this: --- final = (float(int(float(number[0:10]) * 100)) / 100) return final --- with one parameter (number) when I call it with either: <dtml-call expr="numberTrim(number=cur_bal)"> or <dtml-var expr="numberTrim(number=cur_bal)"> I get: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unsliceable object if I use the "test" at the top and enter a value it works fine and if I hard code a value it works as well. The only time it WON'T work is when it's called with the cur_bal variable. Has anybody ran into this before? Thanks, Rick

I use the fpformat module. The fpformat module is a standard python module, but you have to import it into Zope. To do that, I created a subdirectory called "MyModules" in my /lib/python/Products subdirectory and placed the fpformat.py file in there along with an __init__.py script that includes: allow_module('fpformat') ModuleSecurityInfo('fpformat').declarePublic('fix') Once you've done that, then you can use the following code in your python script to format the float variables: fpformat.fix(my_float_variable, 2) Hope that helps, Ron > I am having a horrible time with a python script. I know I've seen this answered a billion times but I can't find it in the archives. If I have an image named "picture" in a folder named "images" how do I call it? <dtml-var images/picture> and <dtml-var images\picture> don't work. I can't even find an answer to this in the Zope book. It's driving me nuts! TIA Rick

Problem using sequence grouping

Hello, I'm trying to build an alphabetical list of items, grouped by letter. I've come up with the following: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <table> <dtml-in "portal_catalog( meta_type='Archive Map', path='/english/archives/5thedition', review_state='published')" sort=Title skip_unauthorized> <dtml-if first-sequence-Letter> <tr><td colspan=2><dtml-var sequence-Letter></td></tr> </dtml-if> <tr><td class="cell_contents">&dtml-Title;</td><td><a href="<dtml-var "getURL()">" class="link">View</a></td></tr> </dtml-in> </table> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> This works fine except that the "first-sequence-Letter" never seem to become true ... >From what I read in the docs: first-variable True if the current item is the first with a particular value for a variable. What I did above should work, shouldn't it ? What am I doing wrong ? DTML method corruption

I'm running Zope 2.4.3 on Solaris (Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, python 2.1, solaris-2.6-sparc), python 2.1.0, sunos5) and have on occasion experienced corruption when saving DTMLmethods. I'll be editing a DTMLmethod in Zope and then save. I then notice that the first few characters of the method have been overwritten with binary junk. Usually this only corrupts the first 'standard_html_header' line, but still, I don't like it. Anyone ecountered this before?

LocalFS Overwrite local files option

I want to protect image files in a LocalFS directory so they could not be deleted or overwritten, so I disallowed the options Delete local files, Delete objects, and Overwrite local files. But what does the option Overwrite local files really do? Zope does not let me create 2 objects with the same ID whether this option is on or off. Thanks, Anclo

ZClasses question

Hello all, I would like to make a zclass that contains a set of folders & dtml docs/methods/etc. I would like to create a "group folder" for the various depts and teams at my organization for the intranet site. I would like to use zclasses because I would like to be able to edit the default functionality set of each department/team's folder (like adding a document library, new style index_html, etc) once (in the zclass) and have it cascade throughout each team/department folder. Am I on the right track here? Can zclasses behave this way? I'm totally new to zclasses, although I have done quite a bit with Zope/dtml/python so far. I just haven't been taking advantage of Zope's object-orientedness. Any good tutorials specific to this type of ZClass usage would also be appreciated. Thanks, Dave Thibault
