Hi all, We run Freezope.org, a site where people can get their own folder with Manager/Owner access. Of course, users should not be able to mess up things outside their own folder. However, they can. The problem seems to be with the helpfiles included with the installed products. For some reason, these are sometimes/always changed (as in: writable, modified) when accessed. Help with RewriteRule?

I'm not very comfortable with RewriteRules and can't find my exact set of circumstances described anywhere. I'm working mainly with the Quickie Apache + Zope setup using VHM found at: http://www.zope.org/Members/Jace/apache-vhm and Chapter 10 of the at: http://www.zopeonarope.com/ch8-10available (thanks Steve!) Would someone please help me with the RewriteRules(s) I need for the following: The linux server I have installed Zope (2.3.3) on has Apache running all static content with LOTS of virtual hosts. I need Zope content for only ONE of the virtual hosts (www.myvirtualhost.com) and I would like Zope proxied only if "/marketplace" is the first directory in the path. (www.myvirtualhost.com/marketplace should return the index_html object in Zope's /Marketplace folder). All other URLs for www.myvirtualhost.com should still be static content from apache. I have installed a Virtual Host Monster in the Zope root. I believe that it should look like the following (all on one line): RewriteRule ^/marketplace(.*) http://www.myvirtualhost.com:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.myvirtualhost.co… [P] Is that correct? Do I need another rule to get all other content passed straight through, or will it only rewrite URLs that match the one above? Hello: How I can create from an external method a UserSource and a LoginMethod to create a LoginManager Folder? No exists a manage_addUserSourceX... This is because manage_addLoginManager requires a UserSource and a list of LoginMethods as parameters... Thanks. P.D. When Anonymous has a certain permission, all other roles have it as well. When Authenticated has a certain permission, all other roles except Anonymous have it as well. I think that permissions should not be "selectable" for those roles. Instead there would be an image icon meaning "selected and locked". Are External Methods faster than Python Scripts?

I have a few complex methods (DTML skins ) which execution causes Zope to become slow. As a result it can take from 4 to 10 seconds to respond a single request to any of those methods, on a Win2K Pentium200 test box plenty of RAM, and that's bad for an application meant to support up to 20 requests at the same time, whatever the destination hardware could be. (Caching wouldn't help because they are methods related to personalization stuff) Facing the step of translating those methods into Python Scripts, I'm considering the use of External Methods instead. Are they faster than Scripts? Has anyone made performance comparisons between the different existing types of scripts, in order to optimize Zope's performance? Thanks in advance, Ausum
