Hi, I'm getting close to an alpha release of some (non) Zope software and was looking for a all-in-one-box project/release management interface, you know tracking issues/file library/news, sort of a sourceforge-lite, but using the one true language :-) I can probably piece it together from a bunch of different products, but was wondering if anyone had already thought of it and done my work for me :-) A software project development appliance seems like it could take Zope into areas that it wouldn't otherwise go, with the recent changes in Sourceforge it could prove appealling to a number of users including small groups in large companies. To really work it would literally have to be an appliance, install the RPM, edit the project name, select services required and you're live... How can I limit one user id to be able to log on at one location at one time?

Hi, Our site is using zope v2.3.3 and CMF v1.1. I've got a requirement to forbid simultaneous log on with one user id at different locations. Does CMF provide this feature? Or is there any way I can do it? Thank a lot in advance. Lily Li Software Developer Kaval Wireless Technologies

I am able to access the web management interface with the initial user admin created at installation time. Later I had added a user "portal_manager", which could login without any problems. About one week later I couldn't login with this user but could still login with user admin. Restarting ZServer solved the problem. This is not a problem for a test site, but in a production environment we don't want to restart ZServer each time a user can't login. Validating Form Data

I am using the Javascript below to validate data on my form. The part where it validate form data works fine. My problem is when I call on the method "insertResume", my form variables does not get passed. For example, on the form i have a textbox field called "age". I reference this in the "insertResume" method with <dtml-var age>, but the age variable does not get passed from the form to the "insertResume" method. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this or maybe show me how to validate form data in Zope? I've tried <dtml-unless> but the user have to go to another page and go back to the form itself to correct the data. With Javascript the user can stay on the same page. I would suggest moving this to zope(a)zope.org, which I've cc'd. I would strongly suggest using Squid as an alternative to both Apache and LVS and kill two birds with one stone here, allowing you to get caching and load-balancing a ZEO cluster with one tool. Squid will load-balance a cluster of ZEO clients by talking directly to ZServer on each of those boxes. With Toby Dickenson's ICP patch to Zope, you can have ZServer handle ICP requests, which will allow your ZEO clients to becomre part of the cache hierarchy for Squid. This means that Squid will truly load-balance your ZEO servers, in the same fashion LVS would... Squid replaces Apache, mod_proxy, LVS, and provides caching too! Personally, I'm of the opinion that every production install of Zope needs ZEO, not just for performance, but also for the convenience factor. You absolutely need ZEO, though, if you have high-traffic, and low ability to cache most of it (i.e. lots of dynamic content). Also, if you need SSL, use Squid 2.5 with OpenSSL to accelerate all your backend non-SSL servers, including ZServer, Apache, etc... Oh, and if you need Apache for non-Zope stuff, Squid will proxy that too. I need more diagnostic information from you to see why it's not working. The usual problem is insufficient permissions. Remember, the scheduled method runs as Anonymous User. You have to give it proxy roles if you want it to call any priviledged methods. -- Loren

How to disallow distribution of ZClass products?

I tried it several times: Distributed a ZClass product via Distribution tab, checked the radio button "Disallow..." and deselected all items in the box below. Then I took this file either to another computer or the same, both don't have this product installed (any more). But, both times, at least changing methods and ZClasses, mostly also redistributing of the product is possible. BTW: The icon of my product is the CLOSED box! BTW2: When testing it on the same machine, icon stays CLOSED after deleting the product from lib/python/Products, restarting Zope and reimporting the formerly backupped product.zexp. Why that? It should be OPEN again, shouldn't it? Running Zope 2.3.0 on Win NT / Zope 2.4.1 on Linux respectively. Bug, feature or my mistake? Any suggestions are appreciated. Good news! I solved the problem; it's amazing what one night of sleep can do for a problem. To make the absolute_url work I needed to inherit from OFS.SimpleItem.Item as well as from ObjectManager.
