Helo, I'm trying to setup Zope behind an Apache webserver and use Apache for the SSL-support. I want external visitors (from outside) _and_ users of the management interface to be forced to use SSL. I made a /ssl SiteRoot object to https://intranet.company.com/ which works great for accessing the site over https (not managing it) I checked out several howto, such as: http://www.zope.org/Members/fritz/howto_apache_and_siteroot http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl but unfortuately they could not solve my problem. The problem I have is that I can't access the root of the ZMI over https (i only get the manage interface for the SSL-folder, which is not the thing I would like). Can anybody explain me how I need to make the rewrite-rules to display the Zope-root instead of the /ssl-folder as root? Is there any way to use a siteroot _and_ access the root folder? Problem with understanding Yihaw

Hi all I am having a problem with the Yihaw directory product on my site. I am attempting to allow a user(who has the role of contributor) add new YihawEvents to the site and so I have created them in the root acl_users folder and provided them with all of the neccessary permissions in the root directory("Add Yihaw Objects", "Delete Objects", "Manage properties", "Use mailhost services", "View management screens" and "Manage Yihaw Objects". ), they then acquire these permissions throughout the rest of the site. However when I log in as this user and attempt to add an event I receive the following error: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. My question is, why is my user not already authorised seeing as they have been given the proper permissions to carry out this task? I should point out also that I have attempted to add an event using the manager role(who should be authorised), with the same outcome. Has anyone encountered a similiar problem? If somebody could even outline the steps for the proper authorisation of my user I would appreciate it. Thanks Tony

StructuredText with Images

I was wondering what's the story with lib/python/StructuredText/HTMLWithImages.py - it looks like it should allow you to place images in structured text, with something like: "my image":img:http://foo.com/myimg.jpg but it doesn't seem to be used by default, instead plain HTMLClass.py looks to be the usual handler for STX documents, for example when calling structured_text() from within a PythonScript. I'm also curious why HTMLWithImages.document() method overrides HTMLClass.document() but takes away the option of disabling the header, and only adds a: bgcolor="#FFFFFF" attribute to the body tag (athough the version in CVS doesn't even add that). In CVS it also looks like HTMLWithImages overrides the HTMLClass.xref() method with an absolutely identical method. I'm guessing I could call it with an external method (I'm not asking for help with that) - I would mostly like to know why is it there, why isn't it being used by default, and why is it just a little different in not being able to turn off the headers in the document() method. mapply & Z SQL Method

Hi. I got a very weird problem with cduncan's mapply hint: In a python product method i do following: source_ = self.aq_acquire(self.source) data = mapply(source_, self.REQUEST.args, self.REQUEST, call_object,1, missing_name, dont_publish_class, self.REQUEST, bind=1) Where data most of the time contains the result of the method, in the case of ZSQLMethod objects, this will be a result instance. Now the __call__ method of DA (defined in Shared.DC.ZRDB.DA) is defined as follows: def __call__(self, REQUEST=None, __ick__=None, src__=0, test__=0, **kw): """Call the database method ...""" And src__ gets sometimes set to ZServerHTTPResponse('') which evaluates to a true value and will return the source of the method instead of calling it. :/ Now i don't know how this happens, this actually doesn't look to be intended, as src__ is expected to be 0 or 1, but definitely not a Response object. Hints or solutions? Script context discrepancies & Zope conceptual confusion

<foreword optionalReading="true">Zope has seemed like an appealing option to me ever since I had first heard of it. As a C++ programmer, and an amateur user and lover of Python, the concepts behind Zope struck a chord with me. >From afar, I viewed it as an object-oriented web development environment with the perk that it integrated well with my new "pet language" (Python). The only thing was that it /wasn't/ an option, until now (my goals were too high for some of the free providers, and the commercial provider I came to, iMeme, decided to ignore me).</foreword> With my new firewall-free connection, I installed Zope on my own system and got to work. I quickly came across some problems. Not the typical newbie-that-didn't-RTFM problems (well, ok, those came along too, but that was expected and they were easily dealt with), but conceptual problems, problems of understanding. In terms that strip the unimportant details from the situation, my wish was to have "/foo/bar/doc" include "/foo/doc" which would in turn include "/doc" (doc == some file implemented as a DTML document with an intended cumulative behavior). After figuring out how to access parent objects and accomplish what I wanted by duplicating the required DTML code into each "doc", I decided to encapsulate the work by placing it into a Python script living in the root folder. To my surprise, in addition to the obvious translation from DTML to python syntax, the switch from inline DTML to an python script changed the _behavior_ of the code. Where "this().aq_parent.aq_parent" once referred to the doc's grandparent ("/foo" in the case of "/foo/bar/doc"), the supposedly analogous "context.aq_parent.aq_parent" referred to the doc's great-grandparent ("/" in the case of "/foo/bar/doc"). As was inferred by the mentioned results, simple tests using absolute_url indicated that "context" infact referred to the doc's containing folder rather than the document itself, the object being viewed -- the object upon which the script should have been acting upon. I must have misunderstood the context variable, I thought as I reread that it "." Well, the document /is/ the object being acted upon when being viewed, not the folder it happens to be sitting in, I argued to a more experienced Zoper @ opn/#zope, hoping to clear up my understanding of the way Zope works. Judging solely from the behavior of Python scripts as they seem to work now, I was just about ready to change my view of Zope and assume that the only item analogous to "objects" of OOP-speak were Folders and that Documents should just be considered views of the object, rather than objects of their own. That is, until we eventually realized we agreed with each other, and in response to my question as to whether other procedure-like objects (DTML Methods,...) act the same way, he admitted that DTML Methods would behave in the way I expected my Python script to. The remaining questions were clear... - What behavior is intended by the Zope designers/developer? - If Python scripts called from within DTML Document's /are/ supposed to have their context bound to the document's parent, rather than itself, what is the reasoning behind the discrepancy? To me the following only seems logical: A call to a script "/script" from within the source of "/foo/bar/doc" should match the calling behavior of a visit to "/foo/bar/doc/script". coreyLubin ...who ended up making this mailing into much more of a story than the developer-targeted question that it is

Zope source RPM released

I have built a RPM for Zope 2.5.1 It's loosely based on the packaging work done Jeff Rush for earlier Zope versions. http://www.zope.org/Members/dingo/Zope_RPMS I'm releasing this in .src.rpm format only for now, I'll be waiting a week or so for any changes to come in before building a -2, releasing binaries, and marking the packages "stable" Contributions, comments and changes welcome! Formulator not working

Hi all, I've installed Formulator in my zope setup, and I can see it in control panel -> products.
