Hello, I am running zope 2.5.0 on one server. I have installed the new zope version 2.5.1 and would like to copy all my data of the old zope server 2.5.0 of a subdirectory ( for example /data1 ) to my new zope server 2.5.1. 1.) Should I copy Data.fs even if the old server is version 2.5.0 and the new one is 2.5.1 ? 2.) Or is there a Product to download my directory /data1 to an external file system and to reload it ? I am using zope page templates and python scripts in my directory. The download procedure should be able to process these types. Could I use the product loadsite to upload to the new zope server then ? With kind regards, Juergen Berger

drop-down-list-box pre-selecting by query variable

Hi all, I have a HTML SELECT drop down list box (ddlb). It has a few items in it (OPTIONs). The value of each option is a simple number (first OPTION has a value="1", etc.) Below the SELECT is a table pulled from a database from the selection in the ddlb (a typical master/detail kind of screen). When the user selects a different item in the ddlb, I want the screen to reload and have the detail table reflect the new item in the SELECT ddlb. Everything is working just fine EXCEPT when the page reloads, the SELECT ddlb is not pre-selecting the change in the ddlb. I accomplish the page reloading by using a little javascript in the SELECT onchange event: onchange="location=mypage?ddlb_val=this.value;" so the page is reloaded with a variable called ddlb_val, and it is set to the id value from the ddlb selection. No prob. I have a dtml-var showing that the number is being passed just fine. The problem is occurring in the SELECT creation I use the following line to determine which item in the ddlb to select by default: <dtml-if expr="id == ddlb_val">selected</dtml-if> but it is as if that little bit of python cannot see the ddlb_val that was passed to the page. If I create another variable before the SELECT statement like <dtml-let ddlb_val="2"> then the ddlb preselects just fine. What does python need in order to see a variable passed to a page using URL?variable=value thanks all

Help subclassing a non Zope class as base class of a product

Hi, I got a strange behaviour when subclassing a non Zope class (called MyBase) that has - and needs - an __init__(...) by another class that provides Zope features (called MyZSub). from OFS.SimpleItem import SimpleItem from mybase import MyBase ... def manage_addMyZSub(self, id, title='', REQUEST=None): o = MyZSub(id, title) self._setObject(id, o) ... class MyZSub(SimpleItem, MyBase): ... def __init__(self, id, title=''): self.id = id self.title = title # isinstance(self, MyZSub) -> 1 :) # isinstance(self, MyBase) -> 0 :( # (very strange) # THIS RAISES THE EXCEPTION BELOW MyBase.__init__(self) ... Creating a new MyZSub object raises this !!! Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unbound method __init__() must be called with instance as first argument. I can't get what happens. Is "self" something else than the newly created object when in such a class !!!??? When removing this line, it works (except of course there's no construction of the base class 8(( This (MyBase.__init__(self)) works perfectly when subclassing MyBase by any non Zope test class - including with multiple inheritance !!! I can't understand why "self" is not instance of MyBase !!! >>> class a: pass >>> class b: pass >>> class c(a, b): pass >>> x=c() >>> isinstance(x, a) 1 >>> isinstance(x, b) 1 I made a quick hack tour in the Zope products installed in my serer and I didn't notice any product trying to call the constructor of its base class from its own constructor. XUF and authentication problem

I am a zope security newbie. I want to limit access to several folders in my website using a postgres table and the extensible User Folder (XUF) product. I've successfully installed XUF. What should the security tab look like on the folders I want to limit access to? I've turned off acquire View permissions and checked View for the Authenticated column. This causes the loginForm of XUF to appear, but typing in a valid username and password doesn't seemt to log me in. Is this problem related to my security tab or does it have something to do with the non-encrypted storage of the passwords in my postgres table (I was using UserDB and a much older version of zope before). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Liz

Zope alone or under Apache

>From my research I understand that Zope alone is much faster than under Apache. Are there any advantages to running Zope under Apache that would make the decrease in speed worthwhile? There seem to be plenty of zope products available to take care of things missing in zope like cgi-bin, etc. I'd be grateful for any "personal experiences" people would have to offer. PCGI & HTTP HEAD command

Hi I'm running Zope 2.5.0 through IIS using PCGI. It works perfectly for HTTP GET requests, but it returns a 404 error if you request a page with the HEAD command. Does anyone know how to tweak either IIS or Zope to fix this? Thanks Tom

ZPT condition attribute question

hello, i have an input tag, and i want to set the value attribute to either a defined value or a blank string. my python expression either returns a single instance or an empty list. right now, i am using two Input tags in tandem. I cannot copy paste zClass based products

I have an application where some of my Products are Python based and others are zClasses. As far as I remember it was possible to copy paste the zClass based objects when I first wrote the app. But somewhere along my upgrades I seem to have lost the ability to copy/paste those objects. My Python based products can be copied nicely. Python 2.1.3 on Debian

Hi everyone, I've got a Debian Woody server here and I'd like to upgrade the Python to 2.1.3. The current testing version of Python is stuck at 2.1.2-2 I believe. Does anyone know if the stability-enhancing features of Python 2.1.3 w.r.t. Zope are in 2.1.2-2?
