Old ZPhotoAlbum ZClass hoses ZSQL methods

Hi everyone, Clicking on the "Advanced" tab of a ZSQL method produces a traceback. It appears to be triggered by an old installation of the pre-Ron Bickers version of Photo. (That one used ZClasses, IIRC.) Any hints about how to fix this? To be precise, best to build fcgi as a Shared Oject, so it becomes fastcgi.so to Apache - loaded in memory. Otherwise, it's an object within the Apache httpd object anyway. Huh? What you talking bout, Willis? Apache has fcgi builtin. ZServer has fcgi built in. So there's nothing to exec. A request comes in, Apache makes a TCP connection to the ZServer FCGI port (well, to the loadbalancer of the fcgi ports, in our case), and does the request. Same thing that happens for proxy pass, only different port and protocol (http instead of fastcgi). The only difference is that with FCGI, the request _appears_ to be happening as though it had hit the ZServer directly, rather than via a proxy. Authentication Problem

I just installed Zope 2.5 on an OS X server. I can log in with the original account and I can create new accounts. But when I try to log in using an account I created in the root users folder, I get the following response: "You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct." The username and password are correct so the problem is something else. What that is, however, is beyond me. Does anyone have a clue what's wrong? Thanks, Jordan Carswell

Howdy, Escaping code doesn't seem to work. If foo is a DTML Document containing; The following is an example of dtml-var:: <dtml-var bar> Zope looks for bar. Am I missing something, or should fmt=structured-text obey the rules of structured text? Thanks, Kent

dtml-in function using input/text value

Hi all, I swear I must be braindead. Having trouble passing the value stored in an Input/text control to a python function used in a dtml-in statement. The text box "asset_type_id" contains the value I wish to pass to the function "f_list_get_asset_type_cfg". should files be stored in RDBs?

I'm setting up a database to store data file for a scientific research group. I'm thinking of writing the data into a MySQL table rather than storing them externally in the filesystem. The files are generally small but the number of them will grow quickly. Are there opinions as to whether this is a good or bad idea? I know there's overhead and a (severe?) throughput penalty, but I was thinking this would be simple to manage (and back up) as well as being easy to search. The load on the server won't be much anyway. Can collecting binary data in a web form and writing it to MySQL be done totally in DTML? I've found some past threads in the list dealing with this kind of thing (and an old how-to) but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on a "right" way to implement it. Thanks, Charlie

Zsql: how to test len of results?

Hi... How do I know the length of a Zsql method result? preferebly from the Zsql method itself, so I can do a update and test again for some results. What I really want is to garantee return results from questions DB. If userid is not answering already, get a new question. I've tried the following but it refuses to work: <dtml-var expr="len(sql_Get_question(user=AUTHENTICATED_USER))"> Zope say: global name 'len' is not defined Here some pseudocode in python (I'd prefer dtml code ,though): Hope is not too confusing :) # not eficient. Call function twice :( # if len (sql_Get_Question(userid)) < 1 : sql_New_Question(userid) return sql_Get_Question(userid).results #or something like: try: sql_Get_Question (userid) except: sql_New_Question (userid) finally: sql_Get_Question (userid) Any help would be greatly apreciated. I'm totally lost here :( Thanks in advance.
