(Running Zope 2.5.1, Macintosh OS X v10.1.4, MySQL 3.23.49) Last week I set up Zope/MySQL, and I was able to connect to a MySQL database using ZMySQLDA. After I restarted my server, Zope & mysqld, I could no longer connect. First, I tried to reconnect to the database (a connection was in place, I just hit the "connect" button), but I got an error message. So I deleted that database connection altogether and tried to create a new one, but I can't. When I try to "Add Z MySQL Database Connection," here are the options I use: Id: MySQL_database_connection Title: Z MySQL Database Connection Database connection String: database myname mypassword This is the error I get Error Type: OperationalError Error Value: (1045, "Access denied for user: 'myname@localhost' (Using password: YES)") It doesn't matter which user I use, I always get this error. It also doesn't matter which database I'm trying to connect to. I know MySQL is running and the databases in question are working fine because I can connect to them and make changes with phpMyAdmin, and I can connect & edit them directly from the command line. I've tried all of my usernames and passwords, I've even reset them with phpMyAdmin, just to be sure. Help! access problem/security issue

Hi there, I have a security issue I am not able to solve. In a product I define a class: class PersonRecord (persistentRedPMBase): #security = ClassSecurityInfo() is_group = 0 is_type = PERSONTYPE firstname = '' lastname='' uniqueid = None def __getitem__(self, key): return self.__dict__[key] def getUniqueId ( self ) : return uniqueid def setFirstname(self, firstname): self.firstname = firstname def getFirstname(self): return firstname I can create and store and retrieve such records. However when I try to access one of its datamebers I get an access error You are not allowed to access setFirstname in this context What is my mistake ?? Thanks for your tips Robert

Problems with Database Connection.

Hi, I am trying to do an application with a relational database connectivity. I am using the Psycopg Database connector to a Postgresql database. Everything seems to run fine when I test the database connectivity, and when I write and test the Z SQL and DTML methods. Burning the SiteRoot

After downloading Zope 2.5.1, I installed it in a user area on my local machine (linux, part of an extensive intranet), started the ZServer, and began my usual test groping. The groping went swimmingly at first, but now I've hit a snag: I used the management interface to create a new SiteRoot with a base of the site which may ultimately be managed by Zope. Now, everytime I attempt to connect to machinename:8080 I get "Not Found" errors. I suppose I should've expected this, but...is there some way to back out, away from my overly hasty SiteRoot creation? thanks, Eric Lawson

Zope authentication and IE6 nightmare

I have a simple user folder product that reads off users from a MySQL db and uses ZSessions for session tracking. I am observing a strange phenomena in IE. When I try to logout if the product has been refreshed, the logout works fine with the right user credentials, however after that it always calls the logout method as Anonymous User. But if I press the back button and try to see the logout page (authenticateed users only) it allows me to see it and even allows me to refresh it (in the browser). Also my logout process essentially sends a 401 reauthenticate to the browser. After logout (privided I have logged in once) if I try to see a protected page, IE6 will try to authenticate once. But I can cancel that and refresh the page and it happily sends back the credentials it cached somewhere. Has anybody else seen this problem and/or gotten around it?? Patching Zope in Windows

Hi. We're having trouble with Vietnamese characters with our Zope installation and we want to apply the Unicode patch by Toby Dickenson. The problem is that our Zope installation is in Windows. Has anyone successfully applied the Unicode patch to the Windows version of Zope? If so, how? Thanks. Eugene

yes, of course there is a problem! if [hello] gets <a href="#refhello">hello</a> why does .. [hello] get <a name="hello">[hello]</a> ???? So clicking the link "hello" will never jump to the position named "hello", because it wants to jump to "refhello".
