Dennis, Thanks for this. I tried it by uninstalling zope-zmysqlda-2.0.8.tgz and then py-MySQLdb-0.9.1.tgz. After this i re-installed both. Unfortunately I get the same error... Any idea's? When I start up Zope 2.5.1_ on freebsd I recieve the following unnerving errors. Can you please help me? I've browsed through several books you mentioned. And I've concluded tthe best book that give me a good understanding (without my Pythton knowledge) is Zope Bible. If you want to save time and go straight to the point, just get that one. You won't regret it. (I'm start reading a few chapters and like it very much). Herianto

plone newbie q / plone install error

hi all it's ok to ask about plone on this list. i got a brocken product if i tried to install plone. i allready installed cmf 1.3 i not understand why plon doesn's find Products.CMFCalendar.Extensions, although i see the folder with with a file called Install.py. Weird acquisition question

Hi all, I'm seeing a weird case of acquisition going on that I don't really understand. From my point of view, what I'm seeing is that a a high-level folder's properties are overriding its children's. This is an oversimplification, however, and I suspect the problem is in the details: This is occuring within a product. The product defines two folderish-objects "Narya" and "Narya-Topic". Normally, a tree of "Narya-Topic" objects exists below "Narya". The "Narya-Topic" objects have a property called "banner", which is also defined by "Narya" (ostensibly to provide a default, even though that isn't what's happening). Let's just consider one Narya object "Narya" with one child Narya-Topic object "Tomobiki": Narya `- Tomobiki Inside Tomobiki there are DTMLFile objects, which include a DTMLFile method defined in Narya (called "navbar"). The "forum_bannernavbar" object uses the value of "banner" to determine its appearance. Now if I set the Narya property "banner" to, say, "ataru_jpg" and I set the Tomobiki property to, say, "lum_jpg", navbar uses "ataru_jpg". Narya (banner='ataru_jpg') `- Tomobiki (banner='lum_jpg') forum_bannernavbar (banner == 'ataru_jpg') If I then *delete* the property "banner" from Narya, the navbar in Tomobiki now (correctly) shows "lum_jpg". Narya (banner undefined) `- Tomobiki (banner='lum_jpg') forum_bannernavbar (banner == 'lum_jpg') In other words, the property of Narya is shadowing the property of its child Tomobiki. Inserting reporting code into the DTMLFile objects, I see that the DTMLFile objects inside (defined within) Tomobiki have the value I expect ("lum_jpg"). The problem occurs in calling forum_bannernavbar, which then thinks banner="ataru_jpg" -- presumeably it is putting its "container" ahead of its "context". BTW, It doesn't appear to matter how I define the Narya property -- I've defined it in the product as well as eliminating it and adding it through the ZMI. I get the same results either way. Now, assuming this is the intended behavior, can anyone explain why? I have a suspicion I might be able to solve this with a cleverly conceived dtml-with inside forum_bannernavbar, but I don't know what to put in it. Thanks! Stress Test of zope server

Hi all Managed to stress the server with 500 concurrent users !! Error message is attached. I would like to understand if I need to go for some ZEO based configuration. At this moment the load will not be as much as this simulated situation. In future (3-6 months) I expect the load to increase. Stress Test of Zope Site

Hi all Any people tried putting zope under stress ? I used siege from http://www.joedog.org/siege/index.shtml today and everything went well. 100% availability. After the test was stopped mid-way (^C) I found that the server had started refusing connections The processes had died !!! Any such experiences ? Any remedies ? Regards, Chetan

XML and XSL question

Hi, I have a truckload of XML documents and an XSL file from an old web site. Originally each file was converted to HTML using msxslt and then published onto the website. I would like to be able to just upload all the XML files to the zope website and also put the XSL file up there, and be able to render HTML on the fly. ie if someone typed in http://url:8080/xml_folder/xml_file_1 he/she would see the rendered HTML in the browser. I have downloaded and managed to install ParsedXML and XMLKit, but I have no idea hwo to go about doing what I want. I think i saw reference to this on zope-xml that either ParsedXML or XMLFile can be used to render HTML with an XSL file on the fly, but it didnt mention how. So how do I go about that?? Also if my XML was in a db, is there a product that would allow me to pull the XML out of the db and use the XSL to render it as HTML?? Take a look at your python library (the one you use to run Zope) and ensure that the pyexpat and the expat parser are present. (Look in the directory xml and the site-packages directory to locate the parsers. Expat is a C extension and may not have been part of your Python distribution.
