Something like ezPublish in Zope....

Hi: First of please don't flame me if I sound like a devil's advocate here... Does anybody know of a product as complete/mature as ezPublish (a CMS built with PHP/Mysql, it's at http://publish.ez.no) in Zope? I have checked out CMF, and Plone, but although they are very nice, in the case of CMF, it seems that it does not have all the features that ezPublish has out of the box, and with Plone, there's still no 'stable' release as of this writing. Besides, both of these products seem oriented mainly towards building collaborative web sites where all members eventually post news and info, and do not seem to be oriented towards 'topic and/or category' driven sites maintained by a handful of people only. I am not saying it cannot be done with Zope. I have also checked ZopeZen's code, but it's not as full-featured as ezPublish. I know zope has the basis to build everything that exists in ezPublish, but I was wondering if there's a Zope CMF that's similar in features and stability as ezPublish out of the box. Attrib exceptions and None objects under heavy load?

I am currently (mis?)using zope as the base for a persistent message queueing system. I have created various Zope classes in Python (message, topic, node, etc.) and will typically create a lot of message objects in a topic object (topic inherits from folder), while reading those messages at the same time AND distributing them to other zopes. This means that there is a lot of object creation, reading and deletion going on from multiple threads. I will typically use getObjectValues to loop through the objects in a container and then handle each object. Sometimes I get the following exceptions: None type does not have attribute bla bla - as if the object I get is a Python None and not the actual object Attribute error when calling a method on a object, even though that object has the relevant method (this one happens a lot). ie. AttributeError: addMessages on a Topic object, even though Topic class has a addMessage defined. The funny thing is, I never get Conflict errors (according to the Zope developer guide, that is what typically happens when multiple threads hit a ZODB). Any suggestions? Thanks Etienne P.S. HTTP_ACCEPT and flash content

Hi; I was thinking of adding some flash to our site... (i know, i know.. NOOOO!) Anyhow. I thought it would be ok as long as the flash was not being sent out to browsers that cannot play it. I figured that the HTTP_ACCEPT variable should have something like: "application/flash-5" or something... But looking at a test page it does not appear to be so. I just made a python script with: return context.REQUEST >From mozilla (with no flash plugin) I get: HTTP_ACCEPT'text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,video/x-mng,image/png,image/jpeg,image/gif;q=0.2,text/css,*/*;q=0.1' And from Netscape 7 beta (with flash 5 plugin) I get: HTTP_ACCEPT'text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,video/x-mng,image/png,image/jpeg,image/gif;q=0.2,text/css,*/*;q=0.1' Which looks identical to me... Am I going about this all wrong? Handling exceptions in dtml

Hello all, I have a question about handling exceptions in dtml. The usual way to do this is: <dtml-try> <some_code> <dtml-except> <some_code_in_case_of_any_exception> </dtml-try> What I want to do is let <some_code_in_case_of_any_exception> tell what the exception was. I tried <dtml-var error_type> and <dtml-var error_value> in <some_code_in_case_of_any_exception>. What I want to now is, is there a way to get an even more detailed error message at this point? CMF Collector error

Hello All, I have installed the latest version of CMFCollector from the Plone site. I have installed it properly as per the instructions given in the install.txt file. When I go to add a CMFCollector object I get the following error. Error Type: Column Exists Error Value: The column exists And there is no traceback provided. Can anyone tell me what the problem is.? My ZSQL Method is as follows: select * from document_change_request where (part_num like <dtml-sqlvar part_num type="string">) and (change_request_number like <dtml-sqlvar change_request_number type="string">); Arguments <<...OLE_Obj...>> part_num:string="%" change_request_number:string="%" My dtml-in is <dtml-in type_part_num_search sort=revision_type reverse> The sort will put all the records in reverse order except the last. This record should be the first but remain the last.
