Hi there! I am new to the list and nearly new to Zope. I have made some small trials with Zope and I think is a powerful tool. However I work for Spanish speaking communiies and I feel it would be very useful to have a community focused on "SpanishZope". Some issues I was thinking about: - Product/Zope Translation into Spanish. Highest priority, user interfaces and manuals. For instance, CMF,Zwiki, Zubb, Squishdot - Zope hosting by "SpanishSpeaking" companies - The issues of localization and translation. For instance, the "ñ" character. Any ideas on how to start? Is already any "SpanihsZope" iniciative working? Sorry, I did read both case but forgot to reply to the second. The reason I can't do the second is that I have about 1Mb of data in pickle in an external script that is trying to be uploaded. It's not a few simple arguments. I guess I could try incorporating my code into an external method and try it that way. Also of note I have tried using the medusa monitor unsuccessfully, gdb unsuccesfully, as well as the "run Zope in debug mode" like as done for unit testing... unsuccesfully. There always seems to be complications on a win32 platform. This post wasn't really about that however, I was more asking if anyone knew why no strack trace was being returned for the XMLRPC call, when under normal circumstances it is? Should I raise a bug for this?

mailhost problem

question on external method invocation

Hi -- I've encountered what seems to be a bug in external method invocation. With all my external methods, the first time any given one is run during a session, Zope fails to pass the parameters. If I hit the "back" arrow on the browser and then hit the "Submit" button a second time, then it works. Why is this? etcUserFolder

I have been using etcUserFolder to authenticate users using their unix password. They have minimum privileges. Basically they can only view objects. My problem is that I like to give some of the users in that list manager role for various folders. How do I accomplish that. TIA Hara

Add item ZMI dropdown, metatype icons, temp folder contents gone on Zope2.5.1 installation

I started up the ZMI this morning and found that the metatype icons in the ZMI were gone (display as broken images, their URLs seem to be unchanged), and the whole row with the add-item dropdown is gone, it does not display. It seems that the metatype system in general got knocked silly on this installation somehow. I did copy in a few products this morning (cvs checkouts of Photo, CMFPhoto, and CVS updates of CMF and Plone), but nothing that I hadn't used before, and they're hardly fringe products. Has anyone seen this type of thing before, and have a tip on how to resolve it before I nuke my installation and start over on monday? I have the screenshot if anyone wants to see it.

I'm not sure how I would do that. Initially, I was invoking the URL for the deletion method using lynx. When I run lynx interactively, there are certain prompts I have to answer - so I created an expect script to do this. The script runs when invoked from a terminal session - but had problems when I ran the expect script in a xron. Also, the sys admin for the runtime machine is not keen on installing lynx. Do you know of alternatives that will not require bringing up a browser? Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it. I wanted something to split up long lists of items into shorter lists and make links to the pages (kind of like the page numbers on a google search) I saw in the docs that dtml provides this... but I could not get that to work. It never found the batch-start-index inside of the previous-batches Anyhow, i found a script in the zope cookbook, but it was two pages long and it was way more than i needed. So I made this: #simplePager # paramenters: # seq=None, page=0, size=10 # req = context.REQUEST url = req.URL if req.has_key('start'): start = getattr(req, 'start') else: start = 0 starts = range(1, len(seq)+1, size) p = 1 for s in starts: print '<a href="%s?start=%s">%s</a>' % (url, s, p) p += 1 return printed It works in conjunction with the dtml sequence stuff as shown in the help pages... like this: <dtml-in list_thumbnails size=10 start=start previous> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;&dtml-sequence-query;start=&dtml-previous-sequence-start-number;">Previous Page</a> </dtml-in> where list_thumbnails happens to be another script which just returns a list of objects (thumbnail images in this case).
