dtml question- testing folder existence in url

Hi, I want to provide custom content (especially in CMF) depending on whether someone is in a particular folder or not. If I am in the proverbial widget folder I want to display only widget news and files. How does one test to see if the folder=widgets is in the url using DTML? Would it be best to test by full url or folder in path- i.e.- http://domain.com/widgets or ../widgets/.. somewhere. Opaque Redirect

Is there a way, without using urllib and it's brethren to redirect a user to another url without changing the URL line in their browser? (I know it sounds malicious, but the URL is ugly). Ideally I'd like to do "return url" in a python script, but I know that's not going to happen ;) -jim

Thanks for replying - no, I'm not using ZEO. I have also downloaded Zope 2.5.1 on my PC - the xron works fine on my PC, so I am Wondering if it is OS related. problems with MySQL User Folder

I've recently installed MySQL User Folder and have been having some problems with it ... a few minutes after having it installed and running in a directory, I suddenly lose access to the contents view for that folder. I can't figure out what's setting this off, but it occurs rather quickly. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Jim, I've used Zsyncer about a month in a 4 tiered site: Squid <-- Production <-- Test <-- Devel, where authors only get access to Devel, we Zsync up to Test and run the Webchecker Python script, then sync up to Production. It works beautifully. The only hitch is, if you're using Squid and Siteroots, be careful of copying the database from Production to the development sites -- I did that, and all the devel sites ended up editing production. I sorted this out because I used different passwords on the different servers, so the popup password dialog was a giveaway. It recursively iterates through zope, so a change to /MyFolder will also sync up /MyFolder/SubFolder. However, if you look at /MyFolder in Zsync, it will not display a change in /MyFolder/SubFolder. This behavior is slightly annoying, and puzzling since it will actually make changes in /MyFolder/SubFolder provided there are changes to be made in /MyFolder. We ended up telling our writers to explicitly tell us the path of the object they want uploaded. But, it's a beautiful product that I think should be integrated into Zope's core functionality. Chris, Max, Andreas, thanks for your comments. I am still wondering if /hoping Zope is the right tool. As I said I am pretty technical but completely new to Zope/Phyton and for now I "just" have a urgent need I thought is pretty generic: * Setup a "portal" where a small team/community can share docs, links and maybe discussions. * Docs must be categorized (users can add new categories), provide upload capability * UI must be super-simple (no Zope management stuff) - simply allow users these basic features (create new doc, upload, create news/links/discussio) and nothing more To give you guys an idea of a pretty good solution from the Evil Empire - look at MSFT Team Services (http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/sharepoint/fastfacts.htm) or the So why do I just not give in and use MSFT ? 1) I prefer open source alternatives to the evil empire 2) I like what I see in Zope/Plone and _think_ it could fit but I need a minimum set of out-of-the-box features I currently don't see (seems like zope has too much stuff <- this always happen in tech communities - geeky stuff takes overhand) 3) Zope is customizable so once I get the hand on it I can see myself adding new features that closed MSFT prods do not allow... So tell me - are my req's that stange? How much work would it be to get Zope/Plone close to the MSFT Team Services? Newbiw: How to use Zope for simple CMS sharing docs (word,etc) and

Dear Zopers, have installed Zope and even plone (great UI!), am technically capable but new to Zope/Python. I was hoping to get the above subject up and running with minimum effort but am stuck - here my "requirements" - any and all suggestions on how to implement these (with min programming) welcome: * Simple CMS portal for sharing files (word docs, ppt,etc) * Ability to categorize" files into "folders" (like "designdoc", "customerdoc",etc) * Easy mechanism for uploading/downloading files (somehow explorer like woul be great) * Simple discussion forum/news section * User management (site only accessible to registered users) Nice2Have: * Versioning of files - at minimum some method of notifying that one member is currently updating a file.. * Use filesystem (and NOT ZODB) for storage of all files * I am the opinion that Zope can do most (all) of this but need pointers to where to start and/or if anybody out there has some pre-packaged solution..
