ReStructuredText now in Zope

I've thrown together a Zope interface to the docutils project's ReStructuredText format. It offers: - through-the-web editing - handling of errors (with control over the reporting level) - FTP editing (with access to the config properties and errors) - extraction of the document title from the text itself - configuration of the stylesheet used - source view It's in the docutils sandbox CVS: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/docutils/sandbox/richard/ZRe… You'll need to install docutils too :) Richard

Hello Everyone, I want to make a community where users can post there views on a particular topic. For this i have extended Document and created MyDocument. Every instance of MyDocument will be discussable. Hence if i want to make community with topic Zope.org,i will create a instance of MyDocument with ID as Zope.org and it will be discussable. The topic will be created by users with 'Manager' Previleges. Users will be able to post there views and comments. But my additional requirement is that these posts by users must go through the workflow specified for it. Initially every post by an user was visible to other users.This was so because in the DiscussionItem.py class 'review_state' was set to 'published'. So any post by user will directly go to published state. I changed 'review_state' to 'private' in DiscussionItem.py. The result is that a user with previleges of 'Member' can post the views but there is not link for 'Submit' in the action box for them. On the other hand, a user with previleges of 'Manager' can post the views and there IS a link for 'Submit' in the action box. So my question now is,What are the changes that i need to make so that the actions(Submit) are visible for a user(Member) for this item(Discussion) My second question : is there anyother better way to create a community ? Storing REQUEST for frame request?

I'm converting a portal application that makes heavy use of frames (ick!) and have a problem: Sometimes a page is requested (/foo.html), and, if it's not part of the frameset, should be 'framed'. The normal way of handling this seems to be to check (with JavaScript) if its in the frame, and if not, set location.href= the frameset document, passing it the name of this page so when it assembles the framed page, this will be in the content cell. Straightforward enough. The problem is when there is form data being passed along. For GET data, it's simple enough--when I pass along the URL of the requested doc for framing, I can pass along the QUERY_STRING and the framed-doc request will get it. For POST data, though, this won't work. What seems the nicest would be something like if-we-need-to-be-framed SESSION.set('request_data',REQUEST) do frameset document, passing URL if we're already framed REQUEST=SESSION.geT('request_data') do the regular page This way, all of the REQUEST vars that the original page would have received (including POST stuff), the new page will receive. Unfortunately, this doesn't work, of course -- I can't replace the REQUEST object. Nor can I replace just REQUEST.form. I think I could do something like: if-we-need-to-be-framed for item in REQUEST.form: SESSION.set('req'+item, item.value) do frameset doc, passing URL if we're already framed for item in SESSION.'req___': REQUEST.set(item, value) do regular page but this seems really inefficient -- having to shlep each piece of form data individually. Does anyone have a better idea? Object history: need last editor

Are there any hooks in the Zope API which can be accessed from a Python script to obtain object history information? I want to obtain the last editor of an object (as displayed in the History and Undo panels) but I can't figure out how to obtain it in Zope 2.5.1. If there's a way, it appears to be undocumented. I took a look at History.py but it looks like the object history is stored in an unexposed property. Any ideas? -- Michael S. installation problem

Hi, I have a problem installing Zope 2.5.x on a newly installed pc. It was running without problems on that SuSE 7.3 machine before. I installed Zope as usual. If I start it everything looks normal (no error at this time). But if I try to access it via http there ist the following error: 2002-08-15T19:13:20 ERROR(200) ZServer Server Error: exceptions.TypeError, cannot add type "None" to string: file: /usr/local/zopepark/Zope-2.5.0-linux2-x86/ZServer/HTTPServer.py line: 181 What does it mean and how do I solve it? overloading getattr on a product

Hello, I'm writing a product which stores the equivalent of Folder properties in XML. Now I want to be able to catalog objects of this type, but looking at how that's done by the ZCatalog shows that getattr(object, index) is called for all indexes. How do I overload getattr to parse my XML and return the value of the "property". My product is subclassed from ParsedXML and uses the DOM to go through the tree and find my "properties". What seems to be happening is that when I define a new __getattr__, implicit getattr calls are made to the DOM object and it ends up calling my newly defined getattr method. This sort of send it into a recursive neverending loop. -Chris

Do-it-yourself acquisition -- is there an easier way?

Hello, I have python products and python scripts in which I am trying to get a certain object, by id, from higher up in the acquisition chain. I know that this object is in a folder named 'toolbox', so the code I have is as follows: def get_foo(self, fooID): default_foo = None for parentObj in self.aq_chain: try: toolbox = parentObj._getOb('toolbox') foo = toolbox._getOb(fooID) return foo except: continue return default_foo This works, but seems very clunky. Is there an API call that is cleaner? Does the method above have a hidden danger or difficulty that I am not seeing? Thanks, VanL

Zope 2.6 libssl install problem
