Creating files outside of Zope with type ZTL.

Whenever I use Dreamweaver to create a new file in Zope via FTP or WebDAV it comes up as type DTML. How do I create files with default type of Template (ZTL)??? Also, I'm having a lot of trouble simply moving files back and forth from Zope and the file system. file system files in Zope What is the current state of Zope's ability to handle external files? I identified the list of Products below. What are the differences? Is there one coherent, best solution? External File ZFS ExtFile/ExtImage Local File System I'm sort of new to Zope and this is confusing. Why all the fuss just to serve a file from the file system? Why isn't this built-in? Yours, Noah

What's the equivalent in Zope to the following VBScript/ASP snippet: For Each x in Request.ServerVariables Response.Write "<p>" & x & " = " & Request.ServerVariables(x) Next For what it's worth, my reason for asking--aside from general debugging knowledge--is because I want to see whether my: squid --> apache --> zope setup is passing along an X-Forwarded-For http header. For now, Apache is recording the internal IP address of the squid proxy in the weblogs, which is pretty useless. // m -

SQLLog performance

Just looked at http://www.zope.org/Members/hdstich/SQLLog_announce Looks very interesting. Do you know anything about the performance issues of using this instead of normal logging? PHParser

Hi, I know that I should be using Zope for everything, but we have a lot of scripts that were written in PHP and we don't have time to port them just yet. We are using PHParser to allow us to reuse the old scripts. However my scripts now come with X-Powered-By: PHP/4.1.2 Content-type: text/html printed at the top of the screen. Has anyone been able to fix this? I tried making some edits to php.ini. Im asking here, because I don't have this problem on my regular php/apache servers. Thanks. Zope on Windows, Apache on Linux ???

Hi all, I have my first complette Zope app and I need to publish it from workstation to the net. Does somebody let me know how to make success with %subj% and VirtualHostMonster (or some other method of virtual domains)? I have read many documentation about Zope and apache, but apache need local access to Zope files. I have low power web server linux PC with apache (486/16MB ram), and powerfull (4xCPU, GB ram etc) NTserver with Zope. So it is possible to connect these two different machines? My chief does not want to invest money to better hardware for linux - it is for free, so HW must be free too (no comment, please). Running apache on NT server is impossible from security reasons (is on internal network, not in DMZ). It is possible to serve pages (no more than one hit per 3-10 seconds) with that hardwares? Guru Meditations on roles, __roles__ etc?

Would someone in the know care to give a brief introduction to the way in which available roles are presented in the "Security" tab of items which inherit from SecurityManager. I would like the roles available to be culled from our LDAP database (via a LDAPLoginAdapter). Is acl_users automatically asked for any roles it has? Or is this the responsibility of the containing folder/product? Thanks in advance for any advice, John Ziniti

Sessions question

Hi, I recently updated my python UF product to use Zope's built in Sessions instead of CST. Now I am faced with two problems: 1. How to completely expire all session stuff on logout. At this point of time I am using the following terminate session function to do so: def __terminate_session (Self,REQUEST): REQUEST.SESSION.invalidate() REQUEST.SESSION.getBrowserIdManager().flushBrowserIdCookie() so the question is : Is this enough?? or do I have to something more?? 2. How can I call my UF's user_logout function on expiry of the session?? In CST there was a field that allowed me to set up a method to be called on expiry. I didnt find any such option in the session_data_manager or browser_id_manager. So how do I do that?? TIA AM

Batch processing question

On a results report , is there a way to put the "[ Previous 20 Results ]" and "[ Next 20 Results ]" both at the bottom of the page? I've tried different combinations all day and can't seem to get it to work. I have got it to where when you get to the last page, it will display the previous results at the bottom, but that's it. Filling nested METAL macro slots with ZSQL items

Hi all, I am trying to mix nested macros with SQL and REQUEST variables and am having trouble getting the ZSQL items into the inner macro slots: top level folder master.html - ZPT that holds "master" macro with one slot: "main" This handles the nav bar, logo, etc. portfolio - Folder master.html - ZPT with "portfolio" macro that fills the "main" slot in the "master" macro and defines slots: "description", "screen-shots" and "comments" project.html - uses the portfolio macro, filling the "description", "screen-shots" and "comments" slots with data from a ZSQL Method. In project.html I want to make one ZSQL call and use it to fill all the "portfolio" macro slots but receive the following error: Error Type: Undefined Error Value: project not found in 'project/description', at line 10, column 31 (full traceback below) Apparently my ZSQL isn't getting called or the repeat variable ("project") isn't available. How can I stick the ZSQL results into the portfolio macro slots? Thanks! Eric.
