string to list

I have a list that is stored in a database. When I retrieve the list it's returned as a string. I.E., ['a', 'b'] is not iterable. Does anyone have a conventient way to turn the string back into a list or should I just do the store differently? Cheers, -- Bryan C. test performance statistics

Hi, I am testing a website running on zope(apache and one tesing instance on squid) I was able to generate a few graphs showing http responses vs time etc...i would like to have some more information on how I can analyse and/or use this information in understanding and fine tuning my server performance.Can some body help me or suggest any good sites for this. Parameters for external methods and page templates

Hello, I'm quiet happy with the example of using External Methods with PIL which can be found at http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1010702887 I can perfectly call this method using <img src="tumb?width=42&height=42"> and get an thumbnail in the size I want it to be. Remark: I had to use a default image name (see below) because I did not found out the correct syntax for specifying an image name. On the other hand I would like to use this external method with pages templates and I failed while having no clue to specify the parameters.s The problem is the first parameter def MakeThumbHi2(self, image="bland.gif", width, height): ^^^^ self. I really have no idea how to put this into the correct syntax from page templates. When reading the Zope Book I noticed that the examples are exclusively realized using Python Scripts and these are glued in a DTML document. Is this the only way to go here to avoid the problem of specifying the "self" argument and arguments of type string? Kind regards Andreas.

It could also be noted that there are a myriad of possibilities if this doesn't work. It would be that all incoming ports are blocked by a firewall to your IP, including port 80. It might even be worse, and be NAT'd (network address translation, private IP addr on your box with on-the fly packet proxying, essentially rendering you invisible to the outside world). You best bet is to really, really know your network, or know someone that does. Folderish Product Problems

I am trying to create a Folderish Product that can be accessed via ftp/webdav. I have tried subclassing both (one at a time) ObjectManager and Collection, but when I open the folder in ZMI or ftp, it appears again, nested within itself-it will nest forever. Not sure why? Can someone please offer any advice on why it is doing that? I assume that I am missing a method that needs to be implemented? Thanks, Chris

You are right, the debug screen show "sys.path". However, I have tried several times putting the packages into the directory "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib\site-packages". They all have "__init__.py" and they still can't be found. The only thing that worked was putting them in "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib". I agree that this shouldn't be. Every other Python installation I have dealt with used the site-packages directory. What I don't know is why or how to change the behavior. Cookie authentication

Hello, I tried now CookieCrumbler and exUserFolder with cookie authentication. Basic authentication works fine, but whenever I select Cookie authentication I do get indefinte redirects. I use Zope 2.5.1 behind Apache with VirtualHostMonster. Any ideas? Thanks Ulrich
