First of all php-nuke is a built portal in php. You have administrative pages when you add delete Remove, from news, polls to articles etc. Zope is a completely different thing, look at it as a development tool not as a python built portal, you have to develop and program. Yes I know there Are a variety of products in Zope, but they only assist you. Simplifies some Common tasks, but they do not do the job for you. Look at php-nuke as php product, that helps you with tools to maintain a portal, but in the end, is a lot of php code. Zope with python 2.1.3, but my linux uses python 2.2

I use Mandrake 8.2 which installs python 2.2 by default and with it lots of useful modules like mysql-python, postgresql-python (or whatever that was called), PIL and python support of emacs. That's all great but what if I want to access these modules from my Zope instance? If I install a Zope without the binary I'll bark upon having to use python 2.2 right, but all the modules will be there. If I install a Zope with the binary it won't bark but I'll then have to get all the modules in there. How do I in the easiest way get to keep Mandrakes setup, Zope with python 2.1. and Zope with all these installed modules? Can I somehow import the site-packages of python 2.2. into the binary python 2.1 Zope package? How? I hope my question makes sense. Thank you, Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. XML-RPC over HTTPS

Hi, I'm having problems running Zope as an XML-RPC server over HTTPS, and the problem seems to lie in the python libraries, as far as my limited understanding goes... I'm using Zope 2.5.1 with Python 2.1.3 on Solaris 7 with open_ssl behind Zeus webserver. in xmlrpclib.py, the Server class splits the uri to find if the type is http or https and raises an error if neither, then it ignores this afterwards, so it always defaults to HTTP. TextIndexNG on Win2000

Hi All, Has anyone had any luck getting TextIndexNG (http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/) working on Win2000? I've installed the product in Zope, and the modules in Python, but I'm getting no feedback in the ZMI. Here's my config info: Zope Version (Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) Python Version 2.1.3 (#35, Apr 8 2002, 17:47:50) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] Any advice? Attrib exceptions and None objects under heavy load?

I think I have (sort of) figured out the cause of my problem. I'm getting general acquisition strangeness when polling a folder from a thread (see my post titled Polling a Folder). I have a small product and zexp that I have compiled that reproduces my problem. Anybody interested to look at this (it may be a Zope bug, or - more likely - me doing something I shouldn't) Etienne For those following the "Etienne Posting in HTML saga", I'm now using Outlook Express and at least that seems to LISTEN when I tell it to do a Plain Text Post (by saying this, it will probably spite me and post in HTML again)

Help: XMLRPC question

Hello zope users, I have comp A Zope and comp B Zope on LAN. I've wrote python wrappers for vpopmail API (vadduser, vdeluser, vpasswd), compiled it into .so module, put it into comp A Zope ../zope/lib/python2.1/site-packages and restarted zope. Here are my external methods on comp A Zope: import vpopmail # my wrapper module for vpopmail def vadduser(username, domain, password): return vpopmail.vadduser(username, domain, password, "", 0) def vdeluser(username, domain): return vpopmail.vdeluser(username, domain) def vpasswd(username, domain, password): return vpopmail.vpasswd(username, domain, password, 0) It works OK, each method return 1 if OK and 0 if Error Problem begins when I begin to call these external methods from comp B Zope using XML-RPC. Comp B Zope external methods from xmlrpclib import Server def vadduser(username, domain, password): s = Server(http://server/vpopmail) return s.vadduser(username, domain, password) ..... So I can get results (0 or 1) from calling ext. methods from comp A The problem is that it works and sometimes doesn't work.
