As a Zope newbie I'm presuming I should take on board what I've read in various Zope documentation about DTML being deprecated in favour of ZPT+scripts? It's just that there doesn't seem to be a wealth of examples of how one goes about various things using ZPT, whereas there's plenty using DTML. Don't tell me that I really do have to start using DTML.... do I?

.htaccess equivalent in zope

Hi, I have my plone portal set up, but it needs to be restricted in an .htaccess like way. So, when someone tries to reach this site, they should get a password box, and when they are authenticated then they may proceed and see the Plone portal. How to do this in Zope? I deselected the 'Access contents information' and 'view' checkboxes on the securitytab of the plone directory object, but that doesn't work. MS Word Conversion

Hi Zopistas, what is the best way to do a fulltext search on MS-Word-files (RTF would be interesting, too) in Zope? Do I always have to use converters like wvware or is there an out of the box solution? What about the integration of r2net in Zope - has anyone done this successfully? Daniel

I think I spoke too soon. Whilst I managed to add a DocumentLibrary (contained within a Catalog) once, I can't seem to replicate it - no mater what order I do things. Also, the DocumentLibrary object that I managed to add once successfully doesn't work much further - adding topics or document generates similar error messages, such as: Sorry, an error occured: * Page: http://...../Catalog/DocLibrary/Documents/manage_addDocumentFile * Error type: AttributeError * Error value: Splitter It seems that there is something more to the problem than a difference between TextIndex and ZCTextIndex. Unfortunately, it's all above my head. I'll crank up an older version of Zope just to make sure it is a version incompatibility problem. If anyone has further ideas I'd appreciate your suggestions. How to authenticate an user

Hi, How can I authenticate a user from a form, filled with user name and user password (like authentication on Zope.org)?! I've tried to look at Zope.org login pages sources, but I miss something there, and it don't works. AdaptableStorage for FileSystem

Hi, I just tried AdaptableStorage for FileSystem usage: great and useful product, thanks a lot. Good for storing PageTemplates in the filesystem. ;-) But I have some small ideas to improve it even more: - in the properties-tab-view of a filesystem-object the title-property does not appear, others do. - if one tries to configure the basepath=%(CLIENT_HOME)s/mnt without a folder like /mnt adding the DBTab Mount Point throws an error even for a unique mount_paths setting - an absolute Path for the basepath= setting does not seem to be possible like 'K:/folder1/folder2', but from my point this would give much more flexibility - there will be problems, if one closes the path-settings with a '/' which can happen sometimes - may be the configuration of the mountpath and basepath-settings through the web would be great to avoid a new server-start everytime when new paths have to be added. Anyway the product is working fine, thanks again. --- Elena

Zope and Komodo ?

Zopatistas, Has anyone successfully used Komodo to work with ZODB-based zope editing. (ftp or ExternalEditor) I cannot get it to work with passive ftp, which i use on all my zope installations, - and cannot find a command line parameter make it not detach itself from the controlling process... Greatly Simplifiied Script writing to session: Is there anything wrong with this?

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why this python script (passed no parameters) creates session values for N_prod, N_shed, N_screen, N_pond, N_land, N_soil that are all the same. What am I doing wrong? Is this a vaguery of the script system, and should I use an external method instead?
