I'm not sure I understand the question. If you mean that you would like to embed the document as part of your ZPT template, do what I suggested below. If you want to link to it, you likely need some way of having your application/templates generate HTML hyperlinks to each of the documents you want to link to - in this case, a Catalog query may be what you are looking for: supposing that all your news items are cataloged, you could have a method (python script, likely) to query the catalog to return a list of the last 5 news item object, for example, and then create a dtml-method that looped over each of those objects to get the title and abolsute URL of each, printing out the appropriate HTML). Also, I don't think that DTML Documents have __call__ methods, like the DTML method objects do, which means that you have to code around that to get the text out of the document for use; I would take a look at the API reference in the online help. 1. You can't use the URL as the way to include the DTML method rendering in your ZPT. You actuially need to call the method in the context of some namespace. You actually need to get to (traverse to and obtain) the method object and call it via tal:content or similar within the page template. Assuming the DTML method is in the same folder, here/MyMethodName is what you would use in TAL to obtain it and call it. 2. You can include content generated by a DTML method inside a page template like this: <span tal:replace="structure here/myDTMLMethod">Contents Go Here</span> The structure at the beginning of the statement above makes sure that the results are not HTML-escaped, because it is quite likely the DTML method is returnning stuff that is already HTML formatted, not plain text... Chris, Squid will do this if you use a redirector and shuffle based-upon client request IP address. You would have to write a custom redirector that kept track of IPaddr to server-node mappings, and returned the right backend url. I realize this isn't perfect, but it should accomplish fair balancing of load and still keep sessions going to the server that first served them, assuming someone's DHCP lease doesn't get renewed or something like that. Alternatively for sessions, you could consider using an alternate storage served by your ZSS. So far, we have had good luck for our classifieds site's clipping application using the old BDB2 storage served over ZEO 1.0 with an old version of Zope using CoreSessionTracking, and I suppose this would likely work for Zope 2.5+ seasoning as well. It is quite likely that once packing is implemented in DirectoryStorage's "Minimal" non-undo storage (pack releases space used by deleted objects), we will use that for our newer applications as a session store. Must Save Data.fs!!!

Hi; Okay, I don't know what I did to create this lovely problem (see previous post: Zope Server Down!!) but it would appear all is not lost. *However*, I need to figure out how to reinsert my old Data.fs and still be able to log in. I built a new distro of Zope and tried to reinsert the old Data.fs but ran into problems. All the permissions and mods are the same for both the old and newly created Data.fs. The good news is I can start Zope. Unfortunately, I can't log in: neither with old nor new admin passwords. Furthermore, the apparently outdated instructions for changing the password specifies I write to a file named either *inituser* or *access*, neither of which exist in the current distro! What to do? How to get the name of the authenticated user when writing cmf types ?

Dear People, I am coding a cmftype to be used together with Plone. My question is why can i get the user using : self.REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'].getUserName() but when i try : AccessControl.SecurityManager.getUserName() it gives me an error saying that type 'module' is uncallable ? Newbie Question

Hi all, Having been put off Zope by the uglyness of DTML before, I am begining to get to grips with zope once again, and have played around with ZTP et al and it looks great. We have one problem. We have an existing system, where each of our customers (companys) gets a new subfolder of our site: e.g http://url:8080/customers/companyA http://url:8080/customers/companyB each company may have different users with various levels of access... once again zope caters for this. However, say i want each company to call a method : getFinancialRecords(company, username) Prefrably this is an instance method of a class stored on the harddrive, but the main prerequist is that it is in ONE place. I have also experimented with Product and got a couple working, and so understand i could use a product and include it in companyA's folder and companyB's folder, but this would be cumbersome if we have 2000+ company's for example. Plus whenever we make a change to the product we need to update each product somehow. So I am thinking, is it possible to include my Product 'X' (that has the getFinancialRecords method) in the "customers" folder and still preservce security and access levels? Is there a better way that can i allow different levels of access to getFinancialRecords for different users of company 'A' for example? any help would be very much appricated, been scratching my head for ages on this one.
