How to generate a WEB Log Files?

Using ZOPE 2.6.1 Windows I want to use WEBTrends but I don't know how to generate the log file. Problems with Formulator

I am a relative zope newbie, and I am tring to use Formulator to render and validate a input form. For the most part everything works well, I do however have two problems. The first problem is that the form.header() and form.footer() pieces that are shown in most documentation cause and attribute error. There is an easy work around, you just put the <form> tags in yourself. It does, however, lead me to think that I am missing something somewhere becuase all the docs use this notation. The second piece is a bit more problematic. Following a bit of instruction by the zope labs folks I created the below script(python). When I try to call it in the application I get an authorization error. This generally makes sense considering the constraints zope puts on scripts, but it does make using a generic validator a bit more difficult. Does have any suggestions for a workaround? IPTables and Zope

I recently setup some IPTables rules on Zope and for some reason I am being denied access to Zope. I am running zope behind Apache and using VirtualHostMonster together with Apache rewrite rules to make things work. The iptables rules I set up are as follows: iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT Both the output and forward queues are set to accept all. I can get to the ZMI (port 8080) with no problem, but I cannot get to the zope site through Apache (on port 80). Has anyone worked this out before? I have searched the archives and can't find anything on iptables outside of ftp setup... Thanks, Kevin

WebDAV overview

I'm looking into WebDAV support, and I'm a bit lost. More specifically, I can open a document with OpenOffice, but if I save it, nothing happens, the document doesn't get updated. I've been trying to figure out what happens in Zope, and what methods take care of this, but I have yet to come up with nothing useful. Can anybody give me or point me to an overview of the WebDAV support in Zope?

ExternalEditor MSOffice plugins...

I know this has been discussed on the list before, but I don't know that I've ever seen a definitive answer.... when using the ExternalEditor helper app on a Windows machine, I seem to be unable to get the plugins for Word, Excel, etc. to work properly UNLESS I have Python installed on that machine. Otherwise, I get the message "FATAL ERROR:(126,'LoadLibrary', 'The specified module could not be found.') For myself, this is no problem since I DO have python installed on any computer I work on, but for the average user of our Intranet, it's not a good assumption. I was under the impression that the helper application should be the only client installation necessary to enable ExternalEditor for users. Is this not the case with the Word and Excel plugins?

REQUEST and AccessRule

Hi, It seems that REQUEST data available in a script executed as access rule are different from those usually available. How can I find the ones available ? In my case, I need to have the (external) hostname (running behind Apache and a VirtualHostMonster) in an access rule script. Thanks in advance --Gilles

Unicode Error ASCII -> decoding error: ordinal not in range(128)

Hello friends, I am trying to import unicode content in to ZODB using an external method. This content is being added as a property. The error that I am Getting is Error Type: UnicodeError Error Value: ASCII decoding error: ordinal not in range(128) I did some googling and I found out that this is because of pythons default encoding being ascii. But I did not come across any particular solution. The text that I am trying to import is Hindi language text (i.e. ISO - 10646 encoding.) Cleaning Filenames from Windows

I have a form with which one can upload images. However, Internet Explorer for PC is a very clever program, and instead of putting the filename in the 'filename' attribute of the request object, it puts the whole local path of the file. This of course is unsuitable for a filename on the server. However, due the the escape nature of the backslash, I'm having a tremendous problem writing a function to clean up this mess. I am certain I used to have a code snippit to do this, but cannot find it. Can anyone give me a hand? --- Edward J. Pollard University of Lethbridge Web Development
